just curious, how long after your interview did you go to committee?

the waiting is miserable isnt it.

i interviewed on 1/16...how about you?...are you waiting too?

i interviewed this week, so I'm not getting anxious just yet. I was just wondering how close they stick to their 8 weeks for a decision schedule.

on a side note, despite what I've read on here, I was really impressed with Drexel. I thought the cirriculum was very well thought out and it looks to really prepare you how to think like a doctor and the technology is very snazzy and best of all they have a PING PONG table!!!

Brutus,
I interviewed at Drexel on 2/5. I got a letter in the mail today stating that I was wait-listed. The letter was dated March 7th but it seems like it wasn't mailed till March 11th. By the way, I am in DC. Yours may be in the mail. Goodluck!

Soda pop has a pretty accurate timeline, I think. I interviewed on 2/13 (one week after soda pop, obviously), and my file was supposedly going to the committee today. (Eeek!) I'm in California too though, so I'm ready for a bit of a wait...

btw, Moskeeto, I'm right there with you about Drexel--I was very pleasantly surprised with the school, the staff, the technology, etc. Having an incoming class of 250, I was impressed that the admissions director repeatedly said hello to students by name as we were on the tour. (besides, they seem to ask some cool people to interview--jmwalker and lola were there on my interview day!)

damn. just got my mail. waitlisted. i so much wanted an acceptance...it would have been my first.

Ack!!! I now have a very strong urge to run home and check the mail.... I interviewed on 2/4 and was told my file was going to committee last week - and have been holding my breath everyday since then. Considering I'm in the same town as the school, I'm surprised the mail didn't come faster (assuming my letter's here today).

Anyone know how they send out acceptances? (not that I'm expecting one) Just want to know if they send it snail mail, certified, phone call, etc. I can take a guess as to what the waitlist and rejection letters look like ;) Looks like I'll be clock-watching for the rest of the afternoon....now my stomach's in knots! :(

Here's what I have to say: GRRRRR. I just called Drexel, and my file did not go to the committee yesterday like they had said. (I called Monday, they said yesterday, but told me to call today to doublecheck)... back to waiting waiting waiting...

hmmph...after reading your post mgw I called to confirm....my file was bumped from last week to this week. They said a letter will be mailed out on Monday. Now I can stew another whole weekend:(

The send acceptances by snail mail in THIN envelopes. I almost didn't even open mine because i was so bummed. i was also pleasantly surprised by the school, and my student interviewer was really an amazing person, so i'm very excited by my acceptance. Good luck to everyone, i'm crossing my fingers for some good news for all of you.
:)

I'm sorry, sperry. I'm right there with ya. I'm so tired of this crap....! :( :( Schools understandably get backlogged, but puhlease!!! Torturous...

I interviewed on 1/29, and they said that my file was going to committee next week. All of this waiting is driving me crazy! Good luck to everyone.

i interviewed there on 2/5...now i am wondering if my letter is in the mail right now...aggggghhhhh....so frustrating i agree to not know for so long but i have to admit that 1 month is pretty good compared to some schools----10 weeks!!!

I don't know how useful this information may be but...

As my earlier post states, I interviewed on 2/5. When I called the admissions office last week to ask when my file was going to committee, they told me some time in the next few weeks. Well, actually my file was reviewed that very same week and I got my letter the following week.

I interviewed 1/30. Haven't heard anything, but then, I haven't called to ask, either.

Anyone hear anything who interviewed on 2/7? I called this week and she said that we were already reviewed!

For those that interviewed in jan. and feb., when did you start calling to check if your file was going to review? 3-4 weeks after your interview?

I actually emailed about my status first about 4 weeks after the interview. I followed up with a call the week of my review date. Since they said it would be 6-8 weeks I didn't ask if it had been reviewed yet, only if it was scheduled for a review date yet. The woman at the reception desk is very nice and helpful - they also responded quickly to the medstatus email request (email addy is on their webpage). Good Luck!!

the woman on the phone told me you can call fridays to find out if your file has been reviewed. if it has, they will be sending out the letter on monday. it sounds like you should be hearing soon, jayzway!

Waiting for the mailman..........Hmmmm?

Ack...I think knowing when the letter's coming is worse than not having an exact date. Tomorrow when I get home at 6:30 I should have an answer!!! (or not - in case the mail's late ;) ) Either way, I'm gonna be a wreck tomorrow until I see the mail. Good luck to everyone else who's waiting this week!!:D

Anyone hear from Drexel who interviewed on February 7th? Still waiting!

Anyone get news from Drexel today?:)

Hrmmph  My file was supposedly bumped from the 6th to the 13th for review.....still no letter :(

Ah well, I guess it'll get here when it gets here.....good things come to all who wait (and all that crap) :p

Anyone have any news to report? :)

i interviewed 2/13 and just called to see if my file has been reviewed. NOPE! :(

Hm. Well, since I interviewed 2/13 too, I wasn't planning on calling - but I was bored at work and did - and my file had been reviewed (odd - lola, maybe it was alphabetical or something??). She told me the letter would be sent that day (yesterday) - so living on the other side of PA, I guess I will get it tomorrow... I really hope it is good news :)

It seems that their standard answer when you call is - your letter will be sent on Monday... I called 3 Fridays in a row and was told my file was reviewed that week and the letter would be sent out the following Monday. I don't necessarily think the receptionist is yanking our chains - I think she's just going by what the comp system says about our status.

That said....I interviewed on 2/4 - my file was reviewed 3/13 - letter dated 3/14 - letter mailed 3/20  - and I received it on 3/22. I was waitlisted - no surprise as I had a crappy interview (and a crappy interviewer). I think they're slowly, but surely moving through the files - it shouldn't be too much longer for some of you!! I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya...

GOOD LUCK, JMWALKER (and everyone else waiting to hear)!!!

i don't know what their deal is, but i've decided to just wait it out. if i don't hear from them in the next few weeks i'll call. schools have given me bad info before regarding interviews, so perhaps they've given me bad info again or for some reason my app really hasn't been reviewed yet.
sperry, my interview there was a tad crappy as well. it was going ok i thought. then all of a sudden after 15 minutes he was like "you seem like an excellent candidate. if you have any questions i'll answer them. otherwise the interview's over." or something like that. hmmm... on the other hand, my student interview rocked! not sure how much that counts though. it's frustrating to pay so much money for a flight/hotel, take of work, etc.. and then have only a 15 minute interview. oh well.

I interviewed there in November- I didn't hear from them for a bit more than 8 weeks (so I was getting nervous)- and then heard that I was waitlisted. Hope that helps!

Don't rush to your mailbox today. I got a big envelope from Drexel and it was for two of their 'other' programs.... the "Now that you have taken the MCAT and applied to the medical school".... So don't rush, and don't be surprised if you see a big envelope.

Hi,

I called two Fridays ago and was told that my file was already reviewed. I called last Friday and she said that my file has already been reviewed once, but someone from the admissions committee took the file out for a personal review and that is why no decision has been made. Hmmm? Any ideas on what is going on? Anyone else who interviewed on 2/7 hear anything? Thanks!

jayzway,
i don't know what is going on but am going to speculate about what might be going on. a drexel student interviewer wrote on here a while ago that if there is a big difference between your student interviewer's eval and the faculty interviewer's eval, your file will be scrutinized. perhaps that's what's going on here. so that's one possibility. i'm sure there are others as well. (e.g. a mediocre lor, a couple of bad grades, people on committee with differing viewpoints, etc..). this is pure speculation of course :).

Thanks for the ideas. I think it is probably that there is a difference between my student and faculty interview. I had a really bad faculty interview and an awesome student one. I guess I will be waiting for a little bit longer. Thanks!

ugh... i hope that's not the hold up with mine as well :(
now i'm tempted to call or email again this week!

does anyone have an idea how heavily weighted the student interview is? when i interviewed there, one of the student interviewers said that it didn't really count for anything, but i also saw the post that Lola was talking about from a student interviewer saying that it is worth something. personally i had a great student interview, so i'd hope it's worth something. :) but from what everyone is saying, i won't hear for a while as i interviewed in march. i guess they are sticking to the 8 weeks.

Lola is right.....that's the way the process was explained to me by several people at Drexel.

The student interview is important in that it's kind of a confirmation of what the faculty member says. If there is a discrepancy between the two, the application will be looked at a little more closely. I don't think that the student interview carries as much weight as the faculty interview though. I mean, if the student really likes someone, but the faculty member doesn't...the outcome will probably be different than if the student didn't like the applicant but the faculty member did. At least that's the way I took it.

I was talking to one of the students there about it, and they said that since the student interview is so casual (usually over lunch in the cafeteria) sometimes applicants don't think they're important or weighed at all in the process. I guess some people have been known to let their true colors show!

During the morning briefing I asked about the relative weight of the student interview. The person speaking (I forget who it was) said "the student interview counts for 20% less than the faculty."

I have absolutely no idea if that was just a number she pulled out of her ass, or if that's really how it is.

I interviewed there in early January. Based on what other people had said I was expecting a pleasant conversational style interview, but was subjected to the worst stress interview I've ever had. My student interviewer was cool, but she obviously wasn't into the whole process and seemed distracted by something. Goes to show- a random process is made even more random by whatever interviewers you happen to draw. The result- another waitlist:rolleyes:

I just got back from my interview at Drexel and Lisa, the director of admissions, let us know that they are still going to extend acceptances during the next 2 or 3 adcom meetings. So if you have not been reviewed yet, a waitlist is not necessarily the best news you might get, despite it being a little late in the interview season. By the way, I was pleasantly surprised by the school and it jumped a few spots on my list of favorites. lola, like you said, its definitely better than NYMC.

hmmm... i wonder if they can sit on my app for so long that they will squeeze me out of a chance for outright acceptance.

solidgold,

so did you lisa tell your group that you were interviewing for a waitlist spot during the orientation?

i guess by the time i'm up for review, it'll be waitlist at best. oh well.

Lisa was not too clear about whether our group was just for a waitlist, but people will be withdrawing and many seats will open up with May 15 coming up. I'm not projected to hear anything until the last week of May so open seats should be available even for those that interviewed late. I've heard of people who interviewed last year in April and were given outright acceptances, so a waitlist is not necessarily the best we could hear, but who really knows.

I hate schools that take so long to respond to us. lola, any idea when your app is going to be reviewed?

SG-

Lola and I interviewed the same day and they claim to have reviewed mine but not hers - so maybe hers will be reviewed this week.

Good luck everyone!!!!

no mail today, get to wait another 24 hours to get the mail again...

Hi JMWALKER,

I wait for the mailman too! Anyone who interviewed on 2/7 or after hear anything yet?

Thanks!

OK now, I dont know what it going on. But I interviewed on 2/27 and I called at the beginning of the wk to check my status and I was told that my file had been reviewed and that a letter would be sent out this week. However Id seen that several people that interviewed before me had not had their file reviewed yet. So I emailed Drexel to see if they would say something different. Well Lisa the director of admissions just emailed me and said that my letter went out Tue!!!!!! I should get it Fri or Sat. I HOPE ITS AN ACCEPTANCE. (Lisa didnt say anything else Im hoping she emails accepted students, dont wont to read into it though)

Still waiting here, too- like I said, I interviewed at the end of January.

No mail still ---- good luck everyone.... maybe today is the day!
