Oh come on Drexel send something nice over to CA. PA and VA students already have their notice!

BTW, I met a person during an interview on Monday who got an email the previous Friday saying that he was accepted. 😕

At Drexel? I thought they didnt sent out email acceptances?

They don't. Either an interviewer found out and emailed the guy before he was supposed to, or the guy is lying. At least that's how I see it.

He also said that they were mailing out acceptances on Monday. Maybe he knew something we didn't.

Well maybe whoever emailed him told him the letters were being sent Monday? Interesting in any case.

beponychick and C.P. Jones, I'm actually nervous for you guys lol...here's hoping 👍

Yeah, the letter in whichever form, will be there tonight probably..... 😱

I interviewed on 9/28 and got the letter yesterday. I thought it was odd that they were making us decide whether we wanted PIL or not so early on. I'm in Maryland and it was sent monday if that helps anyone.

Congrats everybody, i'm sure those of you that were waiting will hear soon. 🙂

just called home, no mail again....i actually called and my dad picked up saying "no mail, sorry" haha

anyway, today's been terrible, so i'm glad nothing came today, it would have been a rejection

I got at invitation for an interview by the end of October, but the interview is in January. They said it is the soonest date they have. Does that mean I will be interviewed for a spot on the waiting list? 🙁

no, Drexel interviews late. My husband interviewed later than January (quite a bit later I believe; he applied REALLY late), and he got accepted straight, not off the waitlist. So no worries 🙂 :luck:

CP! I didnt get anything either today in the mail. I am not having a good feeling about this. It cant possibly be the mail. I think they sent out the acceptances first... and then the rejections will come soon. Damn. :scared: :scared:

no, NO, don't say that! (I have had similar thoughts) But it can't be true. I think we are just in a different pile and our letters will get sent out next Monday....I'm going to be praying a lot tonight

I am wondering what size envelope the acceptances come in? I have heard regular and large...any consensus on this?

yeah i think they are large!

They used to be regular sized envelopes, but now they're big white envelopes. So like paper-sized white envelopes.

beponychick, I don't think there's a method to their madness! I'm still hoping both you and C.P. Jones will get good news soon :luck:

Complete at Drexel 9/1. No word since. Sent them an email day before yesterday asking about status. No word. I think they're ignoring me hoping I'll go away. 🙁 I guess growing up in PA doesn't count for much.

Well guys, I think it will be waiting A WHOLE lot longer. this is crazy!!! I just called them to find out if the decision has been mailed out and the lady told me that they just received my information from my reviewers and that I should wait another 3-4 weeks to hear a decision. Isn't that crazy? I interviewerd on 9/26. What is the point then of interviewing early? This is sooo frustrating. 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁

that totally sucks, and it's very discourteous of the interviewers to take so long to get the interview review in. in fact, the school should set a tight deadline for those and rush on processing the people who get the bum deal of having a slow reviewer. it looks like you're with benfolds on this one. 🙁

i'm starting to think that professionalism isn't the best at drexel's admissions office. lif they're so overwhelmed, they should hire more people. they responded to my email about my status (comlete over a month ago, haven't even received the postcard) a week and a half after it was sent. 👎

Sorry to hear that you haven't heard from them, Shy! I think they're just overwhelmed right now--I emailed them for a status check a few weeks ago, and received a response 13 days later. I'm rooting for you! :luck: :luck:

The lady was very nice to me, which was good. But its still very sad. I hustled to try to have the earliest possible interview and I feel that was totally useless. I mean, Im already on my 6th week post-interview, and they JUST got all the information back into my file. She said it would take another 3-4 weeks, which is way past their 6-8 week timeline for a response. I just want to cry! 🙁 🙁

I just called....no decision yet....waiting for reviews or something of that nature.....better than a small envelope....and the wait continues

Yeah, although we had different interviewers, we are probably in the same boat. oh well. at least i wont be going crazy every day waiting for the phone.
I just booked my Vemont interview... $400!!!!! Just goes to show you that you cant wait to book flights!!

Well good luck to everyone else!!! :luck: :luck:

beponychick and C.P. Jones, sorry to hear about the delay for both of you. That sucks. But hey, if it's any consolation, the only benefit to finding out now rather than a month from now is peace of mind. It's really hard, I know, but I"ve been reminding myself for other schools: there's nothing I can really DO now that I have an acceptance, it just means I know I have an acceptance. Small consolation I'm sure 😎

okay I'm posting again right below

edit: My flight to SC also cost $400, and I booked it pretty early. The prices are just insane!

beponychick, i hope drexel accepts you, since you seem so enthusiastic about their school. we're rooting for you!

Okay, I received this email at my Drexel account today, and thought y'all might be interested:

November 4 , 2005

It gives me great pleasure to announce that the Liaison Committee on Medical Education has voted to continue the accreditation of Drexel University College of Medicine for a full eight-year term. The next survey of the school will take place in 2012/13.

What is truly exciting and inspiring are the glowing accolades the LCME gave to several areas of “institutional strength.” We have sometimes been undersold in terms of our educational expertise, but the LCME’s recognition of our incredible faculty and the programs that make DUCOM outstanding, more than sets the record straight.

Here are a few of their comments:

· The faculty has an exceptional concentration of committed, student-centered educators who are unequivocally dedicated to quality education and to the welfare of the students.

· The vice-dean and educational leaders have used personal diligence, responsiveness, relationship building, and a highly effective mission-based budget to promote, recruit, reward, and retain educators and create a unique, vibrant culture of educational excellence.

· The strength of the parent university in educational collaboration, central resources, Synergy Grants, and collaboration as well as development and institutional advancement provides mutually beneficial potential for the future of the College of Medicine.

· Students and faculty throughout the college and its affiliates identify student affairs and the academic counseling system as exceptional.

DUCOM is indeed a remarkable medical school and one we should feel a great deal of pride in. Congratulations to everyone who all of you who contribute daily to our growth and success.

bepony, if your interviewer just turned in your stuff, and we had the same interviewer, i bet she hasn't even gotten to the stuff from our day (4 days later). i guess it'll be another 6-8 weeks for me!! 😱 i'd assume the randomness of acceptances/rejections is due to whenever the interviewers turn in their reviews which is unfortunate. best of luck, i know how badly you want this!

Yes, I asked the admissions lady if there is some type of order that they process the applications post-interview, and she said it depends on when your student interviewer, your faculty interviewer, and your "independent reviewer" turn their stuff in (i didnt know there was an independent reviewer before). So I gather one of those three (or perhaps all three) turned their stuff in late and my file has yet to go before the committee. Yes in general for both of us, it may take a good 8+ weeks to hear back. Maybe you should call them and find out if your application went before the committee yet? That may prevent you from waiting unnecessarily. Good luck!!! :luck: :luck:

Man, that blows! Sorry to hear you have to wait forever! They really should give you some brownie points for being patient. 😛

yeah i think its great! Were they in danger of losing their accreditation? or is this just a regular process every med school has to go through?

The LCME reviews every medical school on a regular basis. Some schools will go through probation if they don't meet the committee's standards.

I think that's huge though, if I can get one acceptance....I would be much more relieved, and much happier, and i wouldn't have to think about next year

but thanks anyway.....

and i almost forgot to mention....although they said it would be a while...that's not going to stop my compulsive calls home and mailbox visits

um, i love drexel and interviewed there but didn't feel like it went so well. i really love the school though.

oh poo 🙁

Seems important to me. I have a interview at Pitt next month and am now torn about what to do if i get accepted to a higher ranked school. I really liked Drexel. The students there love the place. The faculty loves to teach and seem to be focussed on the students.

arggghhh!

fiddler

edit: tigress,

for some reason i just read what you posted now, but yea, that is good, and hopefully i will be using it in the near future in making a decision 🙂

I didn't think I did all that well either; in fact, I think Drexel was my weakest interview. But I got accepted anyway. Don't worry too much about your impressions of your own performance!

i want an interview at drexel...waaa. haha i've been complete since the beginning of september...

i dont understand how an interview can go BADLY. unless you say something ridiculously stupid or swear or something. i mean, it sounds like you just go in there, and have a conversation. and if they like you, they like you. i mean, i rarely have a conversation that i would say went poorly. can someone explain to me what you guys mean when you say an interview went poorly? i really dont get it.

you can get asked questions that you completely blank on....you can get stuck on ethical questions...and no, the blanking isn't completely the interviewers fault, obviously we can be prepared for all the questions, but some ppl make it stressful, and not like a conversation at all, more like an inquisition, and then you blank when you know the answer...or not even just blanking, but just stumbling over your own words due to nervousness, etc.

i.e., i had an interview where i was asked questions where the answers were told to me before the question, and then i had to answer the question (not drexel).....that's a bad interview

i hope that helps, and if you haven't had a stress interview, or just don't succumb to nervousness, then congrats, i wish i could feel that way as well

I agree. Bad interviews sometime don't necessarily have to be you bawling your eyes out afterwards. It could maybe just be a lack of chemistry between the interviewer and yourself. Then it would be alot of awkward silences or if the interviewer really hates you, dwell on all the weaknesses on your application and ask you about it over and over.

CP jones and bepony: I also haven't heard from Drexel yet, and I interviewed earlier than some of the people here who have heard...26th? 27th? Appparently, my application JUST go to the committee last week. I don't understand why I haven't heard anything yet!!! I'm so frustrated!!

I wish they would make it a point to have all reviews, etc. in ASAP and to keep the apps in order, or else it makes no sense that, for example, you interviewed b4 us, yet still haven't heard....it takes away the advantage of the early interview

right now i'm just hoping my app goes to the committee sometime in the next two weeks

hey tigress, you should go buy the office a few times during the day and just mention my name

yep, if they're not going to enforce some timeliness standard or rush reviews for people with slow interview reviewers, they shouldn't be rolling. drexel is getting a big thumbs down from me based on how they're treating you guys.

it is really sad... especially for borderline applicants who need every advantage they can get (like me). But hopefully, all this wait is not for nothing. I want all of us who interviewed early to get accepted!!!!

good luck CP and Blinky and everyone else!!!
