hey c.p., thanks for the support. i am planning to do a post-bacc program (if they'll have me that is). how did you know where you were on the waitlist? or did you find that out at the end?

i was told by UConn, my state school, in the waitlist letter where i was. UConn is cool w/ giving all the info you want...drexel won't tell you

EVMS, the other school i'm waitlisted to this year also told me my position when i called

but it doesn't sound as if you could be doing too bad if you already have 2 waitlists and hopefully drexel will be good news....or maybe that post-bacc is the last thing you need....either way, good luck getting in this year

I emailed Drexel about a week ago, and have heard nothing back from them. I called their phone # and they said to email.

What is their problem?

Thanx!

Hey everyone, come and see how good I look!

Hello all! I received good news in the mail from Drexel yesterday, maybe I will see some of you in Philly next fall! Congrats and good luck to everyone.

were you told this by a machine? you were turned away by a machine!!!!!!!!!!
don't take that!

you can just wait for the end of the message and talk to a staff member and ask for a status update, but don't call it a status update....i guess it's easier to ask if you already interviewed, but it's worth a shot

congrats, reg user

I emailed them last week also and never got a reply.

I e-mailed them twice in three weeks and never got a reply. Your best bet is to call them up. When you call do NOT select anything, just stay on the line for a real person.

Anyone ever interview on a Saturday at Drexel? I was kinda puzzled by the availability of this day.

i finally called again. i must say, the admissions person was really nice and helpful. she went and dug up my file and she told me that one of my 3 application reviewers still hadn't turned in my evaluation... after nearly 9 weeks! oy vey, drexel. why are you doing this to me? anyway, maybe i'll get news before the new year, if i'm lucky. seems doubtful now, though. anyway, how disappointing! good luck to the rest of you waiting.

Oh thats terrible.. but sounds very familiar. I hope you do hear something, but at least you know the hold -up is not because of you. good luck!!! ill keep my fingers crossed. 🙂

Got the rejection letter today. I had interviewed there on 11/11. But a rejection is allright since I already got accepted at my state school and wouldn't fork over $20k/yr extra to attend drexel.

Good luck to you all trying to get in, my loss is your gain.

Did you think you'll be rejected or did your interview go well?

My student interview was ok, nothing exciting. The one with the professor went pretty well but I felt that she didn't ask any tough questions. I was expecting to be put on hold/waitlist.

i know on paper i don't seem like i'm doing too badly. i'm more than grateful for having been invited and am faring better than most as well as worse than most.

so i know it sounds crazy but i'm pretty damn sure that i'm going to be waitlisted everywhere, but at the bottom of the waitlists and hence not going to get in. sometimes i think the schools are insane for even having me come over. my grades sucked my first two years in college.

Hey this whole process just isn't cool and it can sometimes even be demoralizing. No matter what though you have to try to stay positive, because if you don't you'll just drive yourself insane. Being on the waitlists isn't a bad place to be I don't think, that's where I'm at right now. Good luck!

Hey guys I just got put on drexel's waitlist which i'm very happy about, because I thought I'd for sure get a rejection. So, what are my chances of getting an acceptance now that I'm on the waitlist? I'd love to go to Drexel, so i'm just wondering. I hear the waitlist at drexel has a lot of movement. Can anyone shed some light for me? Thanks.

When was your interview?

did you get a letter or did u call the office to get your status? i interviewed there oct 23 or so and still haven't heard from them...for anyone that has called, do u just ask what your status is? thanks a lot!

i just let the automated message play out and then waited for an admissions person to pick up the phone. i interviewed a few days before you did and i still haven't heard from them either. the admissions person seemed a little embarassed that i have waited so long, so she went and found out what was up with my file without me even having to ask her to do so. so, i think they'll be helpful with you too, since you've also been waiting for a long time. best of luck.

I got a letter in the mail.

so, anyone hear recently? i'm going on 10.5 weeks post-interview with no word. this is the worst. 👎

p.s. i just met someone at an interview that heard back from drexel after only 3 weeks post-interview. ughhh.

really? in another thread(i think the one comparing drexel, temple and jefferson) somebody wrote that drexel's waitlist hardly sees any movement at all... 😕

yea, i saw this in some old posts that it really doesn't move....i'm on the waitlist too, i hope this year is the exception

Well guys, I called the admissions office a week ago, and this is what I got:

1. Waitlist movement doesnt begin until July. Acceptances will be sent via snail mail.

2. Usually only about 30 people will be pulled off from the waitlist based on previous years data ( is this bs or what ? )

3. The waitlist IS RANKED, but that information cannot be disclosed to students ( another BS to me )

I posted that back on page 27 as a quote from a past year's thread about drexel's waitlist

um yeah, it'll be week 12 for me this friday! 🙁 I emailed around week 9 and they said "your file will be reviewed in the next few weeks" 👎 I emailed again last week, but haven't heard anything back. I feel your pain.

Keep on calling them every week. I know CP and I called (not emailed) them after they told us our file would be reviewed. The committee meets on Thursdays so try calling on Fridays. I dont think they get pissed off... at least no one got pissed off at me for calling every week! good luck!!!

mmmmm, agreed, call, they are more than happy to help....especially when you tell them you haven't heard back in 3 months THAT'S A QUARTER OF A YEAR PEOPLE....that's right, i can do math 🙂

When you say it like that, that does sound like a lot of time.

I'll be converting to the century method when contacting schools from now on to make them feel guilty.

Thanks C.P.

ha..."quarter of a year" does sound pretty bad--i may just use that.

how about the idea that I submitted my AMCAS "a HALF a year ago"? 😱 has this process really been going on that long?!?!

Doesn't the US News and World Report say that something like 600 or 700 people are ultimately accepted to Drexel? I can't remember the exact number but I think it was that high. If it was that high, and they do accept a third of interviewees (which should be 400-500 people) then it seems like there would be a lot of movement on the waitlist. I don't know for sure though, I don't have exact numbers in front of me, just from memory. It seems like 30 people accepted off of the waitlist is small, maybe that's how many people actually went to drexel off of the waitlist? Maybe i'm just being too optimistic. That was all speculation, I really don't know for sure. 😕 Either way, there is still hope!!

i sure hope you're right!!!!!!!!!!

and i sure am liking this new method of telling time....i hope it doesn't take another half year for me to get into med school!!!! or even worse....another 1/10th of a decade...or more 😡

i don't know if the admissions committee is meeting this week (i guess it would be tomorrow), but admissions staff is definitely there. i called today just to confirm that my blind reviewer still has not turned in his/her evaluation. bah humbug! the admissions people who answer the phone are very nice though, so i'd say go ahead and call to see what's up.

Drexel says I should expect to be at the school until 3pm on my interview day. However, I'm having a bitch of a time finding flights out later than 6pm. How long will it take to get back to the airport?

The interview day lasts until 3pm b/c the end of the day is the PIL (problem based learning curriculum) session. If you're not interested in that curriculum, then you will get out much sooner.

A cab from the Queen Lane campus will take about 30 minutes to get to the airport if there is no traffic. However, that is a big IF, and it could take as long as 1.5 hours. Either way, you should still be golden. I might suggest though that you take the shuttle from the Queen Lane campus to the Center City campus (don't worry, you don't need any special pass...just act like you know what you're doing). From Center City to the airport, there is a flat fee of $20 (or at least it was a few years ago when I lived in Center City).

Good luck on your interview.

Another way is taking the train from Drexel to 30th street station and then change trains to the R1 which will take you to the airport. You will only need one ticket for the whole trip that costs $5.50. I stayed for the PIL lecture and made it to the airport with plenty of time.

ho-ly crap i interviewed there over 2 months ago and haven't heard anything. i seriously forgot until i saw this thread. what is with them??

Did anyone get an email from Drexel telling you to apply for financial aid? I haven't been granted an interview (or heard from them for a month and a half - maybe it's time to call about my application status) but apparently they think I'm poor. When I read that I nearly spit out my morning cris all over my ming vase.
So, um, anyone know the deal about this?

Yeah, I got it too. I don't have an invite yet. (i'm on hold) They're trying to seem caring by reminding us to file FAFSA, but this is all a part of their torturous tease.

Got it too, even though I withdrew a few weeks ago.

Everybody doesn't interview at the same time. When you get there they'll tell you when you'll interview and where. Either at the school or downtown at the hospital.
