I'm an accounting major, and I am starting my pre reqs this summer.

My gpa is a 3.80, but this semester my daughter got really sick, and I had to miss a lot of school. I have 18 hours and another 3 hour internship.

I will have a B in Operations Management mostly because I missed so much school b/c my daughter. My only other W's are when I dropped out when my daughter was first born, and another W in speech 101 WWW in a summer session when I had 5 other classes.

I don't want to take a B, my first in 2 years. I have always taken a full load, 21 hrs, so I can definately handle the work. It's just my daughter was sick, and my B is due to HW grade.

Should I take the B, or drop the course? Will it be that bad?

When i finish all prereqs, i expect my GPA to be 3.85 and science gpa 3.85.........I really don't want to bring it down...

What should I do.......please help?!?!?

Depends if the course is a pre-req or if you don't mind spending more time taking the same class over again.

i need MNGT 368 to graduate in Accounting, which I plan to do. I plan to take a biol minor, but I can take that again down the road.......

Will this W in a non science course affect me that much?

Unless it is going affect the grades you get in your other classes, I would recommend not dropping and taking the B. Now, if there is a possibility you may get a C, it may slightly change the situation. Ultimately, getting one B, in a non-science class, will not hurt you all too much, especially if you already have a 3.8.

Hope everything turned out well for you daughter, good luck 🙂

thanks!

but what do you think would be worse.

Personally, I would rather take the W and retake for an A later on...

Is this an excuse that comes up often? I don't want the adcomm to roll their eyes at another W.

Not to be rude, but how can you expect your GPA to be around 3.85 after you complete your pre-reqs if you haven't even started any of the pre-reqs?

While I think it's nice to aim high, I think 1 B would only cause a negligible drop in your cumulative GPA after you finish the pre-reqs. I'm not sure if you should be so worried.

i'm expecting to do well in pre reqs because I won't be working nearly as much (30 hrs a week now), and I've always done really well in science classes.

I just want to make the right decision for me and my family......

A B isn't much of a big deal if it's not a reoccurring thing but if you're willing to retake later, by all means go ahead. Your bcmp gpa should remain unaffected if you do take that B.

thanks for the advice everyone..........i'm just going to retake it later on.
