Initially I wanted to get a DrPH. I thought I would work in the public health field for 2 years, and then further my degree by getting a DrPH. But, now after a year of work I feel like I am basically an overeducated secretary. I feel like I wasted my time getting a Masters degree. I can barely afford to pay student loans, and I am considering becoming an NP or a PA. Should I stick to my initial plan? Would I have to start over for either one of those degrees?

Assess your career goals. The two paths are vastly different, so going one path or the other will start you on a different path. If you're not happy with your current job, it is worthwhile to explore other options and try and get more experience in areas you're interested in working. Your work experience is what will carry you further in your career than the degree you possess.

do you want to be a clinician or an epidemiologist/biostatistician, etc?
very different training and career outlooks .
doing a pa or np program with an mph background will open up many avenues for you that the pa or np alone would not. good luck.
