Doctors have higher rates of alcoholism than the general population, but I think the rate off addiction to drugs is the same or less. Doctors also have the highest life expectancy of any profession (accdng to BBC)

Actually I have heard that on average doctors life expectancy is about 9 years less due to the stress of the profession.

Maybe it is different outside the U.S.A.?
