There were interviewees in the admissions office today, so my guess is that interviews do, in fact, go until tomorrow. Word in admissions is that letters will go out "next week... the 7th". Which probably means they'll start mailing them on the 7th - last year the acceptances went out first, followed by rejections and waitlists.

perhaps an ice breaker for all the (hopefully) future duke people and current ones.

what's the last thing you wasted 15 dollars on?

i bought a couple pairs of earrings. I like the earrings but i'm pretty sure i'll lose one of them in the next couple of days; thus the pair will be wasted.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaat??? They send out rejections?!?!?! Oh god. This adds a new component to be freaked out about. :scared:

I spent $15 last night on shi++y martinis... but I guess at least I got drunk. 👍

i can't believe it's march. definitely a nerve-wrecking month when you don't have any acceptance like me. eeek

In anticipation of March, I got yogurt. Lot's of Yogurt! Fifteen dollars of yogurt! And then I ate it. So much for the healthy alternative to a tub of haagen das

JK... ya that is weird. I do like ours the best though. I mean, we are practically old school by this point. We are like the throw back jersey of threads.
 
This thread is definitely old school. Also, everyone here can be my witness - if I get into Duke in 5+ days or whatever, when we show up for school I'll break dance the first day, old school style.

I *think* 2nd look is the last weekend in March; i.e. Mar 31-Apr 1. Unfortunately a good proportion of the coolest people in the class will be out of the country then. 😀

whether or not i perform it, well we'll see.
 
Okay, so I didn't get a letter from Duke yet! I just wanted to be that one *ss who messed with everyone's emotions! Good luck everyone!!!!! And remember, just breath... hold it in... exhale...and say "Whatever"!

No I haven't. There's a lot of info online if you're applying next year, or if you already applied and are waiting to hear back you could call the admissions office and ask if they know when you should expect to hear something.
 
I thought about applying to the Duke-NUS but realized that as of now NUS is the granter of the degree (Duke doesn't offer it jointly, yet) and you have a SEVEN year bond to work in singapore after you graduate.

Sorry turns out I was confused, wrong information from the start. Don't even know if my sister applied to this school. Just wanted to clarify. I am a *****, can't believe that I am going to be a doctor some day.

Speaking of which, the other day I heard that MD/PhDs have already been getting acceptances from Duke. How many of yall know about this???

student interviewer... not student. plus it sounds like the girl is obviously friends with that person so the person probably just saw the name and was like "wow" rather than carrying around the list showing ppl.... i wish i had friends 🙁
 
well in that case, congratulations to your sister. duke is such a great school. she must be incredible excited.

shoooooooooooooot. i know i would be. hell, i ran around my apartment when i got an interview invite. i can't even begin to imagine what might happen if i get a call from my parents saying that there is an envelope from duke addressed to the future dr. femalescantdriv. i will freak out. i hope i dont go nuts and just spike my cell phone onto the ground and start doing a touchdown dance or something (i have been known to touchdown dance at time). man... im gonna stop talking about this... im just trying to prepare for having to wait until may 15th. god... im freakin out right now. ok im gonna stop.
 
don't worry. i'm sure, in a few years, you can adopt your wife's last name.

Congrats to your sis! just wondering, are you yourself premed or in medical school now? I always find it kind of strange when people who are not in the medical school process at all post on sdn..just curious..

I got accepted to Duke today! Regular-MD, snail mail. The letter was dated 3/2, and I live in Chapel Hill so I got it today. Good luck to all of you!

You're going to stir up some crazy stuff in this thread. Big or small envelope? Postmarked date? Letter date? These are important pieces of info 🙂

Thanks. Big manila envelope, no post mark date (just a barcoded strip), but letter was dated 3/2. I guess most of you should receive it Monday or Tuesday. I'm obviously really excited. Duke is my top choice (and first acceptance). I'm so happy! I'm off to go celebrate. Good luck everybody.
