PS: When we get into single digits I will change to size "7" font. Also, I had a dream that I got into Duke last night but the way they let us know was crazy. They like invited us to a second look weekend except not eveyone was getting in. They gave us envelopes right then and there and people found out if they got in right in front of everyone else. Also, there was this girl there from my school who is not even premed... in fact, I think she dropped out of school. Either way I was stoked cuz I had gotten in.... oh well, here's to dreaming 🙄

Morris, welcome to the group! I saw on your mdapps that you have a good figure we should have in this thread. Duke received 6000 applications, interviewed 600, and will have 100 matriculate (with probably not all that much movement on the waitlist). At most, I'm speculating they will accept between 120-180. But that is simply my own speculation. Good luck again everyone! :luck:
 
And what better place to put by 1000th post than right here?!

Today was one of the best days I've had at Duke so far. I got a call at 8:30 am saying that my group was being called in to autopsy, then spent the next 3 hours in the autopsy suite going through a full case. This was far better than being in micro lab, which would have been the alternative. 🙂 It was seriously amazing and I can't wait 'til all the groups have gone so I can sign up to go again. Surreal, completely enthralling, and nowhere near as "disturbing" as you might think.

Then I had 30 mins to grab some lunch and it was off to the gastroenterology clinic where I practiced H&Ps on some patients with everything from Crohn's and leaky fistulas to PICA to a gastric pull-through.

And by the way, I'm only an MSI.

😀 life is good.

alright, well it's 1:30am and I'm drunk and posting on the Duke SDN thread. This either makes me a) a nerd, b) in love with Duke and want you all to succeed, or c) all of the above. I vote for C.

Justwanted to say good luck again, guys. If you get waitlisted, don't worry, send letter of interest/intent. And if you don't get in, don't worry either...there are lots of good med schools out there and you will make the best of whatever situation you're put into.

P.S. Designated drivers are important. Get them. Hooray responsibility!

hey, I was wasting time on the computer trying to sober up before bed. There are only so many internet websites out there worthy of a drunk visit...and after I got through those I went on SDN. I still have a headache.

No biggie, I get that a lot. When I created my screenname, I honestly never thought I'd post here, so I just picked one that paid homage to my favorite Simpsons character. At least people don't confuse me as a guy in real life. Thank goodness those days are over.
 
hi peeps, what should i do: i'm going out of the country for spring break on 3/8...and don't get back until 3/19. obv, i won't have access to snail mail. what to do if i dont get duke's mail before i leave?

Unless you live in NC, I doubt snail mail travels that quickly. I mean if it did, they would probably call it rabbit mail :laugh: OK, sorry for the lame joke. If I were you, you could just change your mailing address on the Duke website and they will send it to someone who will be here (family, significant other, etc) and then you can stay in phone contact with them. Or you can just try to enjoy spring break and not think about Duke (ya right... I say that but I'm gonna be a wreck during spring break). Good luck with that.

So everyone, we are almost in the single digits in our countdown. Did anyone do anything fun this weekend? My buddies and I threw a British themed party where we dressed up in British looking outfits, spoke in horrible accents, and drank British beers and mixed drinks. It turned out to be a great party. At one point everyone had coupled up and was slow dancing to "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Deion as if it were a 7th grade dance or something. It was kind of awesome. Ya so anyone else do anything totally sweet this weekend???
 
this wknd we had our first lax game which ppl got trashed for and was a lot of fun

theme parties are the best. i recently went to a middle school themed valentine's dance so i can relate to the celine dion reappearance...

as for this weekend, its the oscars. that's pretty exciting.

Hah, np. I guess we had to add "the loss of ability to count down" to the side effects of being tipsy. I went camping as this weekend, beautiful weather.
 
We live for theme parties.
Our first party as a class was after our white coat ceremony.
It was a "white coat and underwear" party.
It was highly inappropriate and way too much fun.
I challenge y'all to do better.

LOL... I solemnly swear that if Duke lets me in, I will try to have an equally awesome party theme after our white coat ceremony as well to ring in the med school experience.
 
diosa and I have had two theme parties: a Tequila party (bad idea) and a Pirates and Ninjas theme. Pagemma came to neither. I bet she was on SDN the whole time instead.
