First word was *gasp*, then woohoo!, then a few tears. And I hate to be the first, but I'm in Boston.

Congratulations, Natytilly! It's great to see someone who's been anticipating a letter for so long on this list get an acceptance! Is this your first choice?

also in durham and nothing. 👎

yeah natytilly!

okay so monday's mail has come and gone. here's hoping for tuesday!

I left work today to rush home and check the mail. I didn't even get any junk mail. Hopefully, the just forgot to deliver my mail altogether!!!

I live in Chapel Hill... So, I am starting to worry, especially since folks in Boston and Wisconsin have already gotten a letter.

Maybe tomorrow.

Did anyone figure out if they sent the letters in alphabetical order?

Someone in Wisconsin got a letter? When did I miss that? I thought that the closest to me was Michigan.

*in somewhat mini-freakout mode*

Hey All-
Anyone living in New York hear anything? Im assuming no news=waitlist/rejection, but still keeping fingers crossed......

:luck: :luck: :luck:

Just remember this feeling next year when you're cracked out on coffee and can't possibly remember one more gram positive bacillus.

haha good point! after all this salivating to get into med school, it will be interesting to see how emotions change once the workload really kicks in. right now, i can barely get myself to write a paper...

AAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!

So I had thought the decision was going to go to my school address, which was listed on my AMCAS as my "preferred address", so I was bummed that I couldn't find out until Wednesday at the earliest. However, someone mentioned that Duke had sent it to their permanent address, so I just checked on my PAS about fifteen minutes ago. Turns out I had this address listed as my contact address... so I ran out the door and checked the mail...

AND I'M IN!!!

🙂 Moral of the story: make sure you have the right address. It may save you much needless anxiety.

Here's hoping we see more good news over the next couple days. I've been compulsively checking this thread for the past two weeks, at least. Really, you guys are awesome.

congrats embellis!!! that's great news. its nice to see so many people on this thread getting good news.

congrats to those who got in! i'm gonna play the pessimist and say those of us at duke here who haven't gotten anything probably are getting WL/rejected, although i definitely hope otherwise.

was there anybody from Duke who received good news today?

So, before I got my letter, I was finding it a little frustrating that the posts here did not indicate clearly what kind of postage it was. Now that I have one, I understand why. This is like no postage I've seen. There is a meter sticker and a stamp worth 87 cents. There is no cancellation stamp and no other indication of the type of postage. Sorry all. I would guess standard first class, but it might be some kind of institutional rate on priority. I don't know.

actually, if it's an 8.5 " x 11" envelope, standard first-class postage is $0.87. we're sending them out all the time for the study i'm working on.

Maybe there is a Duke acceptance Santa Clause. Duke tries to make there letters seem official by putting those crazy stamps on there, but in reality, Richard Wallace takes a magical sled around to everyone's house and drops off the mail in increments starting with NC, then the NE, midwest, south, and cali.

Yeah, no postmark date anywhere on the envelope. For me, there was just the meter sticker and a black pen mark slashed through the 87-cent stamp. Go figure. The letter inside is dated March 2, 2007, although that probably doesn't mean too much.

Although, I do have to say that the picture from AnEyeLikeMars was extremely helpful as I dug through the mail. I didn't even have to look at the return address! 🙂 Thanks!

So when's santa clause gonna stop by TX? Tomorrow? I promise I won't be naughty next year

I don't know if awesome is the word I would use here. Um... nerve-wrenching, ridonkulous, scary, tense, anxiety-ridden... these are more appropriate for me. :scared: 😱 :scared:

But here is to tomorrow :luck:

good news from California...letter arrived Monday 🙂

No Love In Georgia either. At this point, you can't do anything about it. If it's meant to be, it's meant to be. Here's to hoping its meant to be for the majority of us.

And.....congrats to everyone that already recieved acceptances.

hahaha we wish 👍

The DukeMed site says letters will be mailed out no later than March 7. So, I am guessing most people will find out by Friday or Saturday.

It's going to be a long week! I could definitely use that remote control Adam Sandler used in the movie "Click". That would be great right now!

AAAHHHH!

I think what's taking longer too is they had to engrave our acceptance on a gold plaque.

My letter, whatever it is, is going to my parents' address in CA rather than my place 7 min from Duke - bah!

Does Duke pay for travel to the Second Look weekend? It's less than a month away...

I really hope that these letters are going out randomly. I live in Boston and I hate hearing that someone here has already received a letter of acceptance!

Good luck to everyone that is waiting!

Hopefully our mailboxes will be full of huge envelopes tonight!

🙄

Hi everyone,

I have been obsessing behind the scenes like all of you, anxiously awaiting any news from Duke.
I read on my PAS application that ONLY acceptance/waitlist offers will be sent through the mail and that rejections will be sent through emails. I tried to copy and past this into my message but since the file is Adobe, I could not. But everyone should also be able to access this information. If you go to your PAS application and scroll ALL the way down past all of your essays, this info is under the "application agreement".

good luck everyone!! :luck:

I was initially repulsed by that thread. However, now I'm more repulsed by myself... because I've been thinking that a whole bottle of mustard would pretty much kill the taste and I might just get it to slide right down.

also,

i double checked which mailing address they had listed for me and it was my permanent (ie: my parent's) address and not my current one....

So if you decide down the line that medicine is not for you, you should look into becoming a detective! awesome catch! here is the statement copy and pasted from the duke PAS website:

"If you are extended an interview at Duke and you are NOT accepted to Duke AFTER you have interviewed, you will be contacted by email via the email address housed in your DukeMed Personal Account(PAS)."

so email = kiss of death........I think this is the first time I am hoping and praying that I do not receive an email from an ADCOM

Good luck everyone..... I hope we hear good news from Duke :luck: :luck: :luck: :luck: .

no emails from Duke.... I want a letter.

My waiting for my mail has gotten so bad that... I almost called my landlord from school to ask him to check my mailbox!

Where does it say that?

I see this on the right of my PAS page:
"All decisions for applicants who have interviewed for admission to the 2007 entering class are sent via the U.S. Postal Service and will be mailed from the Office of Admissions during the month of March 2007."
