You know at the beginning of interview when the dean or someone else talks about the school and asks questions to the interviewees as a whole?

Does participate during this time mean anything in the decision?

If you've got a chance to leave a good impression on someone who might be able to make a difference for you, you should always take that chance.
I agree any chance to make a good impression can only help, but i think its pretty doubtful that participating in a presentation can increase your chance of acceptance. I didn't participate at all and got into 2 of the 3 schools I interviewed at.

side note vicviper...wouldn't your initials be MD DMD MD?

Eh, true, but it's more like, why not take an oppurtunity you're given to stand out - even though it might not make the biggest difference. You don't want to not stand out just because you don't think it'll make the biggest difference at that particular point. There's always people watching, and that one little difference may make the decision go to you over someone else.

Haha, and if I get that many degrees, I'd be more than comfortable putting it "Doctor of Medical Dentistry, Medical Doctor, Mike D!" hahaha

I think participation helps if it is a useful comment. It is painfully obvious when someone is trying to make something up to say just to make a comment. Its important to get noticed but best if you get noticed for being the guy (or girl) that knows when to talk and when not to.

I don't think it matters that much. I didn't say anything at any of my interviews and got accepted 3 out of 4.
