I wanted to get you guys thoughts on the free exam (#3) from the AAMC and how it compares to the real thing? I just started studying after being out of school for 4 years and made a 17 and don't know how to feel about it...

Science sections are way easier, Verbal is about the same. The later practice exams (9,10,11) are more similar to the real one, and #11 is very very close to the real thing.

Don't be discouraged by your score, just use the report they gave you and develop your study plan based on your weaknesses.

They changed (removed) a few ochem subtopics in the last 2 years or so which is not reflected in the older practice test....you should check in on that.

Don't get discouraged, I studied for like 2 months and got a 23 on first practice test, kept on taking more practice test and studying. Within a month I scored a 29 on the real test.

Thanks! My plan is to take practice tests weekly and hit the exam crackers books hard til I take the real deal, and if I'm not satisfied with my score then look into a Kaplan class

I took number 3 about a month before I actually tested and my actual score is 5 points higher. I only used EK physics and orgo to study, and I didn't finish either book - so I didn't really study a super amount. In addition to 3, I took 7, and 8 and got the same score on those two which was 2 points lower than real score.

I would like to say that no mcat is created equally. Practice test 11's PS section is full of equations while my real one was mainly conceptional. Also my verbal passages were all double in length compared to aamc ones. (n' yes I took 3-11).
