Earliest time to get off of waitlist

I was waitlisted at two schools today...ouch. I am just wondering if anybody knows what is the earliest date that one can get accepted off of the waitlist. For instance, do they always wait until after they've interviewed everyone before they accept someone off the waitlist? Do they review your file sooner? I need some answers, please.

Probably depends alot on the school..
