I just read a post about SAT scores and something called Early Acceptance. I take this to mean guaranteed acceptance to med school while still in undergrad without taking the MCAT. Anybody have any more info about these programs? For instance:

1. What Schools have it?
2. What are the criteria?
3. If this is for real, why do more people not apply to these programs?
4. Are there any disadvantages if you were rejected from this program when later applying to med school?
5. Anybody done this and care to share?

Thanks!

look at the MSAR, the early acceptance program is for HIGHLY qualified high school students. its a Bachelors/MD program where you are a med school slot provided you maintain acceptable standards during undergrad. Some schools require MCAT, some do not. dont confuse EAP with EDP. hope this helps😎 😀 😎 😀 😎 😀 😎 😀

Actually, some medical schools also give spots to exceptional undergrads, so that they have a guaranteed spot in medical school before they obtain their BA. Most of the time, a medical school will coordinate with its undergraduate school to invite selected students to apply based on their undergrad GPA (George Washington--end of sophomore year, Northwestern--at the end of junior year). Some schools (Mount Sinai) allow students to apply from all undergraduate institutions. My roommate and I both attend Northwestern. She was the one accepted into Mount Sinai at the beginning of her sophomore year.

I think someone asked why these programs are not more popular. I think it's because the schools don't publicize them very much. Do they harm your chances for applying to medical school later? No, they don't. Actually, if you decide to apply to one of these programs, your GPAs probably already very stellar. I think NU's cut off is ~3.75 sometime during your junior year.
