When you say "early application" do you mean early decision? If not, then obviously it would not hurt to apply early if you have all your requirements intact. Assuming you mean early decision, I want to point out that there are so many factors to this question. Is the choice of your school on rolling admissions? Does your school have a high rate of accepting students who are in state? Will your stats exceed the average GRE score and GPA? Have you had enough hours? Honestly, if you are your stats are good enough to apply early decision, then by all means go for it. however, don't waste an opportunity to apply to only one school to get rejected and then miss having the opportunity at other schools who have already accepted their students due to rolling admissions. If you want better clarification, the best way to proceed is by emailing every institution that you intend on applying to and ask whether you have a good shot at early decision.
