Are early decision applicants more or less guaranteed at least an interview?
I applied ED and got an interview, but I dont know if I should even take this as a big accomplishment or just a courtesy that is extended to anyone willing to take the risk of applying ED

Does it matter?

Nothing is an accomplishment until you get an acceptance; that IS the accomplishment.

You are only granted an interview if the school thinks that you have the necessary chops and wants to get to know you better. When you get an interview, you've scaled a significant hurdle.
