Easiest to Apply

If residing in California was going to make it easier for me to get into certain schools I would have moved there years ago.
In all seriousness, I noticed that a large portion of Drexel's and NYMC's incoming class are typically California residents.

First off, there's no such thing as a garunteed admission to med school. There are about 40000 applicants competing for about 16000 positions, so it's tough. It's not like undergraduate college where you can almost always find a school with low enough standards that you're practically garunteed to get in; there's no such thing as a "safety" medical school. I don't know if that's what you were asking about, but I just thought I should make that clear. As from being from california, you should apply to the UC schools, as they are rather good (UCLA and UCSF in particular), and they are very protective about letting out of staters in, so you've got the upper hand there. There are some other state schools which are open to out of staters as well (OSU, UVA, Penn State, and the SUNY's for example). The MSAR gives interview and acceptance stats for each school based upon state residence, so you should consult that. Then there's private schools, which don't have any preference to state residence.
