Hi all,

I have two quick questions:

1) Do medical schools actually contact the individual (by phone or email) that you put down in your EC descriptions?

2) If yes, should I update each individual school with new contact information? Just recently, the volunteer coordinator at the hospital I volunteer at retired, and a new volunteer coordinator took her place. The phone number and email address are now both different.

Thank you in advance.

I have a similar issue as some of the moderators were students graduated. Curious as to the answer for this.

What are your thoughts? As adcoms, how do you actually handle the contact information, and what happens if you come up with an invalid email/phone number?

Should applicants update contact information if changed?

Thank you guys for your time and wisdom.

Admissions Committees are going to be very busy with so many applications that they don't have time to call up EC coordinators and stuff. If a school is interested in you and they wanted to know more about an experience than they might give someone a call, but for the most part you don't have to worry about that happening.

Absolutely agree with the above. I would try your best to have accurate contact info just in case, but there are thousands of applications these adcoms are sifting through. I highly doubt they have the time to talk with many extracurricular contacts listed. If they do contact, it's probably because the experience elicited a need for more information.

I would think if they're going to offer you a seat in the class then they might call to make sure you're being truthful about your experiences, but who knows.

I don't consider it my job to call contacts and confirm information. On the app forms that I see, there is no contact information.

However if I ever saw something that I thought was not right, I would ask my admissions Dean to investigate.
