Hey, I was just reading the instructions for the AMCAS application and I noticed it said you had to list telephone numbers for references to validate any of your "experiences". I have absolutely no clue what to do for several of mine since I have been out of school for 4 yrs now. I know for a fact of at least 2 volunteer experiences where I was part of a big volunteer group, and since the main leaders are gone I dont know if they even still have record of my participation. Do I need to call around and verify that somebody has record of my participation in everything before I list it? And what should I do if I can not find a reference? Should I leave a good experience off my list if it can not be validated?

Thanks

What i mean is that i have no direct contact numbers or emails for a couple volunteer experienced. The instructions say you could list the school studen affairs number, but if they were called i dont know how they could validate my participation.

It is highly unlikely that they'll call to check up on if you some activity you did over four years ago.

I applied for the 2010-2011 cycle, and I remembered they asked for contact name and title but not an email or phone # or anything, did that change? For some of my experiences, I didn't fill a contact in because, yea the experience was 4 years ago or longer. Is it required now that you have to put something there?

Yes it has changed, now they require a phone number and/or email.

damn dont sweat it. just throw a random email there of someone mildly related to what you did and forget about it.

This is kinda sketch but maybe you're still facebook friends with someone who was in the group with you? Even if they were only a peer, I imagine it would be better than some secretary at student activities who would have no idea who you are/what you did.

I'm assuming this doesn't go for hobbies and such?

Last cycle I listed a ton of stuff without any numbers/emails to back it up.

I was desperate for EC's I included things like "fixing up bikes," "WWII history as a hobby," even "making my own comic book"

Not to hijack but what about those clubs or organization with different committees. I volunteer at my daughters school and each party or fundraiser has a different parent. What would ii put in this situation, as I volunteer when my schedule allows.

Lump it all together under "parenting" and link them to photos of your daughters finger paintings as proof

Doesn't matter. Choose one. Put someone tangentially related and you'll be fine.
