Thanks for all of the fantastic advice, it really does help out.

I am currently working for the American Cancer Society, my job is to help patients with treatment options, discuss side effect associated with treatments and ways to cope with it and a myriad of other things (financial assistance, support groups, early detection and screening etc)

I *think* this is a pretty good EC, but it is not a very traditional way of dealing with patients and I am sure admissions does not see it often. It is also for pay, not volunteer. What do you guys and gals think?

Sounds great but I don't think it counts as an extra-curricular activity if it's your job. It's definitely great experience but shouldn't be your only experience.
