First off, I really want to get into a UC medical school. I'm starting my 2nd year as an undergrad and haven't started research yet. I'm trying to get a spot asap, but since I want to apply to med school in my 3rd year, I was wondering if having 1-1.5 years of research is considered a low amount for an average UC acceptance. From MD apps, it looks like a lot of the people with UC acceptances have 2+ years of research.
Also, I'm trying to get all my shadowing knocked out before the fall quarter starts, and I have 40 hours now. I'm expecting to have 200+ clinical volunteer hours and multiple international trips that will be in clinical settings... will this be good for my clinical experience or should I do more shadowing?
Thanks
