If I am applying as an economically disadvantaged applicant and completing the Background information on the application accordingly, is it redundant and unnecessary to explain my economically disadvantage situation in my personal statement?
My economically disadvantaged situation fits into my personal statement, but it is not really necessary and I could use its removal for less character space. I will be applying as an economically disadvantaged applicant in the background information tab. So I shouldn't be worried about it?

If you have the information you want to get across in the "disadvantaged" section, you need not include it in the personal statement. Use the space for other information.
