i was seeking a clinical research assistant job but since i did not have any prior experience, i had a really hard time finding one. an opportunity came along from an alternative medicine pharmaceutical company that was involved in an IRB approved clinical trial. specifically it was a homeopathic company. i worked directly with a senior CRA who had 25 years of experience in traditional research. this job gave me great insights to many aspects of clinical research and thus provided me with the experience i was looking for. not the mention, the pay was nice as well!

i was wondering if this experience could negatively affect my candidacy. i wasn't able to provide in-depth details about my experience on the primary app due to the character limit. however, i did mention homeopathy bc i did not want to withhold any info and be deceptive...

moreover, i probably shouldn't have, but i also listed that i served as an interim receptionist for the CEO's homeopathic practice just bc i had so-called patient interactions...

i applied early, have a good PS, stats, and other ECs that show my dedication to allopathic med.. however, i have not received any interview invites... now i can't stop worrying that maybe these homeopathic experiences may be hurting my chances... is this possible?

any comments and insights are appreciated.. THANK YOU!

what are good stats? state of residency? where did you apply? Do you have experience working with traditional research or more importantly allopathic medicine?

i'm an MI resident. 3.9cGPA 3.95sGPA 32N MCAT. i applied broadly to mainly midwest schools. i have 300+ hrs volunteering in hospitals, 3 years non-medical community volunteering. have shadowed a DO physician. and currently i am a part-time intern at a developmental ped and clinical psych office who are involved in multiple research studies but i'm assisting with an empirical project momentarily. i just started this internship a week ago so i have yet to send update letters to med schools, but i will do so in a week or 2..
