Can anyone please tell me how badly you need to volunteer at a pharmacy related place to get into pharmacy schools?

An increasing trend in pharmacy school admissions is pharmacy experience. At some schools, it is mandatory before acceptance.

That being said - there are some schools that do not require it - for a concrete answer, you should ask your question directly to the school(s) in which you are applying.

A word from experience... You really should get into a pharmacy and make sure you like this - you will invest money, time, your entire life to this career - you REALLY SHOULD MAKE SURE YOU LIKE IT.

He is absolutely right. Not only will experience increase your chances of getting in, it is something you should want for yourself. You are about to spend almost a quarter of a million dollars (in most cases nowadays) and spend 4 years in graduate school. This is the job you will have for the rest of your life. Do you want to blindly commit? I've known several people that wanted to be pharmacists until they experienced it. It's a good thing they found out they didn't like it before it was too late! I've also known some that went to pharmacy school with no experience and regret their decision to be a pharmacist. I actually knew one that went BACK to school to persue another degree, and new career.

I talked with a pharmacy student and he said that 3 people dropped out of his class to pursue something else and they had no pharmacy experience, meaning they wasted time and money to get accepted for no reason. They also took up 3 spots that more serious candidates could've taken.
