Today I received a parking citation for briefly parking outside of my assigned lot on campus to pick up my friend. Apart from this citation, my record is crystal clear. How will this citation affect my admission chances when I report this on my application?

Just kidding. You're fine, they won't even know about it. (I have like 20000000 parking tickets)

Quit fussing. We don't care about this.

I don't know...

I think we should destroy the future of an aspiring physician over a parking ticket. First it's illegal parking, next thing you know it's running guns for the cartel.

OP: chillax.

lol

You'll never get a job anywhere with that on your record. Worse than having a violent crime offense.

No, the tickets will be the gateway to jaywalking, and even worse, littering!

People get in with DUIs. No one will bat an eye at your sh*tty parking job. 😛

Last summer I jaywalked between the Supreme Court and the US Capital. Washington hasn't seen that much civil disobedience since the 60s.

Yep, I'm an outlaw badass.

I mean they won't even know it's you. Parking tickets are assigned to the car, not to the individual. What if somebody else had been driving your car?

can you guys even find out about non felony/misdemeanor infractions?
I had a national and local background check done on me after acceptance. Don't know how accurate it is.

Also, I didn't know that we had such a bad group of members here on SDN. You guys are all what brings this society down with your jay walking and parking whenever you wish...😉

I had to get a SECRET clearance while in med school due to my status as an Army officer. The handful of traffic citations on my record mattered not.

Jaywalking in DC is pretty much the national pasttime behind watching the Nationals break our hearts every year.

Had to get a TS/SCI while in the Marine Corps, and same.

I actually know someone who got a parking ticket every single school day when we were in college. He didn’t want to park in student parking across the campus so he illegally parked in the unsecured faculty lot next to the building near the fraternity house and most of his classes. Every Friday he walked over with his tickets and wrote a check. During his third year the parking office “judge” requested a permit for him and he was granted one! It was only $25 a day, but it adds up. It didn’t hold him back.

OP, you need to do some soul searching. Medicine is a hallowed, nay, sacred institution and you should evaluate if a ruffian such as yourself deserves to enter the profession.

I pray the authorities become aware of your transgressions and may God have mercy on your soul.

"only 25$ a day"

That's food for a week!

Parking ticket, especially the ones on campus, won't be reported after you pay them. Thus, they won't count as "traffic misendeavor" on your med school app. Those are for running red-lights, speeding, etc.

Source: asked my pre-med advisor

I also want to ask how one gets a comprehensive traffic record to make sure there's no traffic violation and has a clean record. Would like to get one from time to time, like a credit report.

Dont believe Goro,
Adcoms believe anyone who gets a parking citation is an incredibly huge liability to the school and it indicates a future risk you may decide to park in the firelane and prevent a patient having a heart attack from being saved because the ambulance / EMTS cant park at the curb.
This also indicates you may not be able to pay your tuition because you are now 50$? poorer
And finally medical school deans are most definitely afraid you may steal their valued spot.

Your application will be shredded for sure.

I will be shocked if you can find a job at McDonald's after this.
I'm lovin' that you don't think he can have it his way!

It shouldn't be a secret. You got a ticket, or you didn't. I think I'd remember. (Last moving violation: five years ago. I'm no longer a criminal!)

DMV

But, not all out-of-state tickets are reported to your state DMV, though they might show up on background check.

I had a friend who received a couple parking tickets and nothing about them were ever brought up in interviews so I think you should be fine.
