According to Glenn Beck, the Egyptian Marxist/Islamist conspiracy to bring about a new world order. 👎
Yeah, no.
I hope the military does the right thing. But props to the Egyptian people.

First of all, I want to congratulate the brave Egyptian citizens for their witnessed efforts to overthrow that tyrant. I also want to give my best regards to the hero Tunisians who sparked the urgency to fight for lost freedoms in the Arab world.
Second, I am very optimistic about the future of Egypt because I know that the Egyptian citizens will not settle until they obtain their TRUE democracy. Egypt had been under a dictatorship ruling for the past 30 years. Freedom was an imaginary concept in Egypt. Now that the tyrant is gone, I don't think that Egyptians will settle for anything less than a real democracy.
Finally, it's an inevitable truth that Egypt will suffer a financial crisis. However, if a true democracy was established, Egypt will pick the pace quickly because Egypt has great natural resources, well-educated citizens, an amazing river, and the most fascinating ancient history.

How much did it cost before????
much more than money
You know, I hear all this stuff about Egyptians fighting for democracy as some news stations like to portray it, but people are hesitant to admit that the people who sparked the uprising in Tunesia, Egypt, Jordon, and the rest of the Arab world was the Muslim Brotherhood. And they certainly didn't do it because they simply want democracy.
Now, with all this talk about democracy, when about them? Members of the brotherhood have admitted on national television that they did this because they want to take over Egypt and enforce the Islamic law or "sharia" as they say, in which you are killed if you drink alcohol, all women have to cover their entire body head to toe and only show her eyes. If a woman is raped she is stoned to death. if you steal your hands are cut off. In Tunesia today, after the president fled, the Muslim Brotherhood was able to take over several areas and this law has already been enforced there.
What about the non-Muslims living in Egypt or these other Arab countries. According to the Islamic law they are to convert or be killed. Under "special circumstances" they can live as long as they live under Islamic law. What democracy is that?
I don't see how there is going to be democracy when things have been going exactly according to the brotherhood's plan thus far. 20% of the anti-government protesters at Tahrir Square were from the brotherhood according to CNN. According to CBS, they were offering meals for families (and their children) if they come and protest. Shouldn't these things have raised some red flags?
At this point I sure hope the Egyptians can handle the situation and not let a fundamentalist group take over their country because they have some guns and knives.

Allow me to tell you that your post is full of B.S. and misleading information.
First, the Muslim Brotherhood took no part in sparking the revolution in Tunisia; the revolution started when a Tunisian citizen named Mohamad Bouazizi sat him self on fire after his produce cart was confiscated by the police.
Second, although the Muslim Brotherhood had an active role in the Egyptian revolution, the vast majority of the two million Egyptians marched in the Tahrir square were ordinary Egyptian citizens, both Muslim and Christians. Don't tell me know that the Muslim Brotherhood fed all those two millions for protesting. Every Egyptian citizen suffered from the financial and the political frauds that existed because of Mubarak's government; the Muslim Brotherhood weren't the only ones calling for the change.
Third, there's no evidence for your claims that Islam encourages killing non-Muslims until they convert to Islam, and that people get killed because of Alcohol consumption. What happens in Afghanistan and some other Islam dominating countries doesn't represent the true teaching of Islam. All religions at some point of history suffered from being victims of extremists, and, unfortunately, Islam has its great share of those radicals. This is not a religious debate forum, and because I don't want this thread to be closed, I am not going into explaining this. Go educate yourself before throwing faulty claims on this thread.
What happened in Egypt is great, and Egyptian will have a true democracy regardless of what you think and what you want. Egyptians are well-educated and well-informed people, and they are capable of choosing for themselves; they certainly don't need people, like you, telling them that they were better off with a dictator than falling victims for religion nutjobs.

I wish I cared.. But sadly I don't.

I have never understood why individuals would set themselves on fire to protest (remember the Buddhist monk protesting Vietnam?). While it's nice to be so passionate about a cause, I think tis would only be effective at getting Johnny Storm's attention.

I never said that every person there was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood or that the brotherhood fed EVERYONE there. Simply said that they made up 20% of the protesters and were offering meals to several of them. Since you're Egyptian, feel free to open up any of the egyptian news channels, as all have reported that. My point wasn't that Mubarak should stay. My point was the the Muslim Brotherhood has way too much of an interest in this that is certainly beyond simply wanting democracy.

Go ahead and watch that. And keep in mind, the man in that interview, who is on national television is not the only one of his kind. He's just another fundamentalist. Watch it if you'd like to get a more accurate representation of what would happen if the brotherhood got their hands on Egypt.
On that note, you arguing my statement that the Islamic Sharia Law encourages the murder of "infidels" (non-muslims), the murder of alcoholics, rapists, rape victims. Says that women (all women regardless of religion) are not allowed to drive or run for office and must always dress covering their entire body? Because if you are, you can just google "Muslim Brotherhood Sharia". Better yet, I'll google it for you. brb.
back. Here you go:
"Within Sharia law, there are a group of "Haram" offenses which carry severe punishments. These include pre-marital sexual intercourse, sex by divorced persons, post-marital sex, adultery, false accusation of unlawful intercourse, drinking alcohol, theft, and highway robbery. Haram sexual offenses can carry a sentence of stoning to death or severe flogging. An eyewitness account of Soraya M, a woman executed by stoning, can be read on an anti-Iranian web site. Caution: do not read this if you have a weak stomach; it is quite graphic." (http://www.religioustolerance.org/islsharia.htm)
ohh ohh wait here's another:
"Covering a wide array of subjects, the Sharia requires years of dedicated study to master. However, some of its better known requirements are simple and easy to explain. Sharia law dictates the Halal, or the famous Muslim dietary laws that prohibit the consumption of pork and alcohol, among other things. Sharia also requires the use of the right hand for eating and drinking, mostly because it is common practice to use the left hand for cleansing after defecation. Sharia describes the major Islamic religious festivals, such as Eid il-Fitr. Sharia also contains the famous dictate of verse 9:29: "Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued." This law is generally interpreted as requiring Muslims to bring non-Muslims under their political domination, but to be tolerant of other religions that exist under their rule. However, the Jizya, or tax on non-Muslims, is required." (http://www.ehow.com/about_4572297_what-sharia-law.html)
google does wonders.
However, I NEVER said that ISLAM encourages murder. I never bashed the religion. This is not a religious debate and I never said anything about Islam. However an Islamic group of radicals, who chose to be called "The Muslim Brotherhood" choose to use Islam as an excuse or a reason to kill. If you don't believe that, do some internet searching for yourself, go read a history book of what happened in Egypt in 1954 before telling me to educate myself.
Please don't misunderstand my comments against the Muslim Brotherhood, a group that has been feared and banned in Egypt. Now they are trying to get they're foot back in the door and are using this opportunity of an uprising to attempt to take over Egypt as they have done with many other areas of the middle east.
I have educated myself on the topic. I have opened my eyes to see all sides of the coin, and I encourage you to do the same. Look at everything happening and ask youself why exactly it is happenening the way it is happening. Why does the brotherhood have such an interest in Egypt. Why are they promoting the protest under the title of "the muslim brotherhood" as opposed to being unnamed citizens? Why have they went out of their way to go and offer food to MANY of the protesters under the condition that they protest against Mubarak. What do they have planned and did this uprising just give them the ammunition they need? THAT'S the point I'm making to you.
I quote former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum when he said 2 days ago "the Muslim Brotherhood wrote the book on radical Islam and wants to impose Sharia law throughout the Middle East. The only difference between the Muslim Brotherhood and al-Qaida is that al-Qaida is more upfront about the violence theyll use to conquer and accomplish their purpose,
What happened in Egypt is great, and Egyptian will have a true democracy regardless of what you think and what you want. you talk to me with such hostility. I can't tell whether you're offended because you thought I viewed Islam in a certain way or because I am skeptical about the outcome. Neither the former or the later should make any difference in your life or anyone else's, I am entitled to an opinion, so please, take it easy.
And my argument is not against you or your religion...it's against them...understand the difference.
But just so you know people "like me" are also egyptian, and have family suffering in egypt and are well educated on the corruption. However I am not ignorant enough to just follow the crowd of protesters without asking why is a terrorist group making such an effort to get this result. You can ask yourself the same thing...or don't. Doesn't really matter, this is just a forum.
I wish I cared.. But sadly I don't.
you know, i'm looking everywhere, but i can't seem to find the post where anyone was concerned about how much Poliscidoc cared about the topic..
But hey, look at the bright side, you just increased your post count by 1. Thanks for your input.

Yeah, don't see how Egypt free is helping pre mess get into med school. This is more of a sociopolitical forum topic

I could argue that when our country was run by republicans and good Ole W , that it could be the same as the brotherhood controlling Egypt.
Also you really have to take everything the media says with a grain of salt, because they inform you on what they want you to think.

Thank you sir. Also let me point out that you are a true football fan! 👍
Too bad now with lack of governmental authority there is going to be a increase in christian persecution.
True democracy is separation between church and state, Egypt is still a semi-secular country,(law based on islam) sharia law is still the backbone of the country, therefore if your actions contradict what is in the quran, you have to deal with the punishment, regardless of religous affiliation. 👎

All I have to say to you is, suck it up man, this is real, my uncle was shot cold blood in egypt two years ago for standing outside of a church, the man who shot him spent two months in jail, he most likely justified his actions by what is written in the Quran. Just because you are blinded by your own experiences does not mean that this sh** does not happen. PUNK.👎
is this thread really happening? Ok first of all, im going to assume that almost everyone on here is american. That means most of you get your news from Fox or other highly american biased news programs. I hope this isnt big in american news, or next thing you know america will be intervening in Egypt somehow lol
Yeah, don't see how Egypt free is helping pre mess get into med school. This is more of a sociopolitical forum topic
But if you talk about this on a sociopolitical forum then you actually have to know what your talking about. Otherwise people will just tear you apart. Here its a bunch of pre-med/medical students who don't have enough spare time to become significantly educated in politics or world news. Basically, it is a safe place for idiots to debate topics that they really don't know much about.

Why should he be banned?
Everyone is entitled to their political opinions, right? Last time I checked the Bill of Rights is still in effect.

I wholeheartedly agree people should have and speak their own opinions. In fact I am a huge supporter of people such as Terry Jones, not because i agree with anything he believes, but because he is willing to risk it all for what he believes. That said this is not a place to shout a hateful message. If you want to say all jews should be killed because they exploit us all or that black/hispanic/muslim people aren't actually people you must do it in an appropriate setting such as a park or the washington mall. This is a private board about the medical field and hate has nothing to do with what goes on here. I still hope it was sarcasm.
