EK 1001 good for content/practicing problems?

I know the EK 1001 questions are not representative of the questions on the MCAT, but I was wondering if they were useful to anyone for remembering content and practicing working problems? My friend gave me their old EK1001 books so I wouldn't be wasting any money on them, but I don't want to waste time on them either if they are useless.

The best thing that you can do is try the books out yourself. I have heard that for some people they help a lot with reinforcing formulas and concepts. Others, like myself, felt that they did not help much and stopped using them after a while. Even if they aren't a huge help for you, using them will not hurt (unless you are pressed for time). Just give them a go and find out which group you fall into.

For me personally, the books have helped me see what I don't know. I have the Chemistry 1001 book and I do about 25 problems a day (it doesn't take very long to do) and if I get a question wrong, I review the content. Then I cross-check the topics with the AAMC section outline to see if it's a topic I should consider reviewing, and go over it until I'm sure I won't get it wrong again. In my opinion, it's much less stressful content review method since I don't time myself, yet I'm able to figure out what concepts I know/don't know.

In a nutshell, they're good for content review if you have more time and want less stress. I would use them if you are tired of your study routine yet still want to refresh the material in your head.

I agreed I used to do 100 questions from each book for about 3-4 hours for about a week. Been doing self assessment with the help of TBR passages and EK, I have been doing very well. This is also after 1.5 months of intensive content review.

There's not really a best 1001 should b used as supplement eg to nail down/reinforce materials. This is due to their complete lack of passages (bio being the exception). You will and should get passage based material TBR has about 1000 Qs total for all subjects too in each book, but most of them are passages based. Do the passage Qs find out what you are lagging in then use 1001 as practice and reinforcement. I wouldn't spend so much time in things you are already good with.
