I did really welll with the exercises in the EK VR book including the 30 mintue tests.. i scored close to 10-11 and now i started doing the EK 101's first exercise and did really bad.. Can anyone help me figure out what I might be doing wrong?

Hi there guys,
Please reply.. Has anyone else seen a substantial drop in perfromance from the EK book to the VR101 ...
Amy

yes. you'll be fine. if you average about 9-10 on the EK101, you're straight for the real exam (10+)

I had the opposite happen to me. Did ok on the 30 minute exams (8-9) and now I'm getting 9-10's on ek 101. Go figure.

Hey Bgreet,
I think improvement in the positive direction is always a good thing.. But my worry is the negative.. I am hoping that this was just an isolated incident..
Bye

Hey Amy,

I asked a similar question the other day on here. It does seem that the 101 is a bit tougher at first. Just keep with the strategy and reviewing the questions stems and the main idea focus. I've taken the first four so far. I was discouraged after the first three becasue I seemed to keep scoring the same scaled score "7," when I did very well with the 3O min thing in the lesson book. However, I took the fourth yesterday and got an 8. Then I looked at my raw scores for the last three and noticed that I did actually improve with each just a question or two only which kept me in the same range for the scaled score. It's starting to get easier and I'm now starting to get closer to completing the whole thing in time. Keep at it too, ok.

Amy you can't base anything on just one of the verbal 101 sections. Do a few then you can start to worry 😉

Just keep practicing.....my scores for the 30 minute in class exams were around 6-8. I'm doing the 101 now and my scores are a little better (8,10,9,8,9) though I am a little worried about the inconsistencies. According to everyone, this is the best book to study from.
