Elementary Organic Chemistry

As long as you take regular orgo after, I don't think anyone will care.

College is the best four years of your life - why waste time taking two similar classes? I say if you think you can do it, take the regular one and just be done with it. Opens up your course options for other, more interesting classes. Don't get stuck in the pre-med mindset!

Have you thought taking Orgo I and II this summer at this university so that you have completed those prereqs and are able to do the research in the fall? Yes it's more accelerated, yes, it's more demanding but it will get it out of the way for you, which can be a real gift to yourself.

Particularly orgo in the summer.

Hm. It makes sense I guess if schools are teaching abbreviated-topic or fewer topics versions in the summer. I've been told mine refuses to do that, so it didn't occur to me - @theriomorphos definitely listen to @gonnif on this one.

You should be held accountable to the same standards over the summer unless you want a "free ride."

I actually took a lower lever organic chem course first. For the PA school I went to we needed organic chem for science majors. So, I took the lower level one first, and it helped me a lot.

Does your school award credit for both courses? If you take elementary, can you still get credit for Orgo 1 and 2? IMO, I would just take Orgo 1 and 2 because you only have four years at college and there are so many more interesting classes to take and again, IMO, there's little use to wasting an extra class on something you'll learn more in-depth later anyway if you don't have to.
