Was Spanish hard for you in high school? That will give you the answer.

I guarantee that the Spanish you learned in hs will come rushing back. Maybe not all, but you will remember much more than you think you will.

I say take it if you think you can handle it. Good to know some Spanish when entering the medical profession anyway.

If you took three years in hs, elementary Spanish will be very easy. You'll be learning numbers and the alphabet. I would actually brush up on the elementary stuff and go straight to the intermediate level. Then again, I can say that with ease since I grew up around Spanish. 😀

I have to take three semesters of spanish to fulfill my language requirement. So elementary spanish is not hard? I didnt do so well in my pre-ap spanish III class but did well up to that point.

Elementary Spanish will be Spanish I from high school. Your third semester will be the first half of Spanish II from high school. If you took three years, the elementary stuff should come back really easily, I think.

"Elementary" ANYTHING at the undergraduate level pretty much means, "So basic you might die unless you love this stuff."

Spanish was good, but I found German easier to learn (English is a Germanic language, after all). Check it.

Italian wasn't too bad, either. I found Spanish to move pretty fast for my taste in both schools I took it. I attribute it to the higher expectation that we be able to use Spanish conversationally than most other languages besides English.

Elementary Spanish I is being taught by a visiting instructor at my school. Therefore, I don't know if this guy is easy or hard. Regardless, should the level of elementary spanish be easy whoever the professor/instructor is?

take spanish as an easy class. it wont hinder your grades in ochem/bio

pienso que la clase de espanol elemental es un buen idea! en la escuela secundaria, hacia solamente tres cursos de espanol, pero en la universidad, empece con un curso de espanol muy basico y ahora soy licenciada en espanol!

in other words, yes. you might really like it, too.

As others have mentioned, elementary would probably be just fine. I would NOT recommend taking anything much higher than that. You would be able to do well but the time it would take to stay ahead would probably interfere with your classes--that's what I'm doing this semester 🙁 Anywho, in elementary you'll be learning the alphabet, basic verb tenses (i.e. present, preterite, imperfect) and lots of culture and grammar (i.e. ser vs. estar, por vs. para). Best of luck to you. I don't see that it would get any easier down the road--take it now 🙂

Basic Spanish skills can come in really handy in medicine, especially if you end up in training or practicing in FL, TX, or the Southwest. I would encourage everyone to learn some Spanish.

If you took Spanish after Italian you shouldn't have found it too difficult...
