Hi everyone,
I have already passed NDBE part 1 exam with 91% marks. I have a GPA OF 3.93.I wrote EE in september 2004 and scored average on it just because i was new in canada and had not prepared for the exam. This time i know what is going to be asked in the exam plus i have many questions and topics from the previous exams. If anyone is giving exam this may please reply and we can form a group and share our questions and knowledge to ace on the test.
I believe healthy competition is the key to success. So, feel free to enquire anything and i will be happy to share all the information and knowledge i have.
good luck

HI directhit

Do candian boards accept national dental boards????? or they exempt some exams for us

last year EE exam - nearly 30% of asked questions were from part 1 materials NBDE. so if you want to score high in this exam my advice for you is to review part 1 material. EE exam is two parts exam - with 1 hour lunch time between thise two parts. in the first part of EE ,quistions form part 1 NBDE can show up - especially phisiology and pathology.
shaikh dentist - Canadian Borads do not accept NBDE scores.

hi directhit,
but i don't understand why are you giving EE when u have such good score in nbde part 1. please don't mind me asking you this.
Anyways even i would like to club in for the discussion for may 05 EE... since you have given the exam please let us know what subjects to concentrate on part 1 and 2 and which books wud be really helpful.
we are anxiously waiting for your guidance.
Thank you
aim.

the reason why i am writing the exam second time is that first of all if go to states i have to leave my family behind in canada,so, i prefer canadian universities more. secondly, it is simply less expensive.
Thanks for all your responses.
i would agree that about 25 to 30% questions are from basic sciences but more stress is on clinical subjects. everytime they set the exam they choose a different subject on which they put more emphasis. in my exam they put a lot of emphasis on radiology and ortho. and let me tell you guys about 3 to 4% questions in the exam are repeated 2 or 3 times. i dont think kaplan is of much use to prepare for the exam. everyone has to pay emphasis on the basics of all clinical dental sciences. not many questions are asked from treatment section.
i want to make this thread a useful one. so if everyone is interested we can choose a specific subject at a time say for 4 or 5 days and discuss with each other. right now i am studying oral pathology, if somebody wishes to discuss with me he/she is most welcome.
bye everyone
work hard
and be successful
wish the best for all

the canadian exams dont accept national dental boards. canadian eligibility exam consists of all the 4yrs or education acquired in dentistry and they dont exempt any exams for anyone. it is a 5 hr exam with 1 hr lunch break. and most important thing the scores are given in percentages and not percentiles therefore if you have a score of 85 in NDBE it means your score in canada would be round about 60-65%. so it is very competitive.
good luck

i have anwered most of your questions in above replies. what i would suggest is follow the books that you have studied in your bds course. there is nothing in the exam you wouldnt be able to attempt. all the questions asked are from basics.
eg. what is the function of indirect retainer

hi directhit..ur right.all questions r basic one only.but still doubts arise.so i think its better to iscuss with some brilliant brains here on SDN.......ok we acn discuss OP......i'm raedy.......can u suggest me .how we acn do that...gag

hi everybody,

i was thinking y not discuss the released canadian question papers, the questions seems so easy but so difficult to answer at times
our syllabus is so wide and canadian exams are so vague dat v can't pinpoint a single topic not even a single subject dat v wud concentrate more on
In oral pathology in each disease on what sud v concentrate more, i mean the age or etiologyor treatment or histogy or radio? so difficult to remember evrything for each.
cheers

Hi,
I did appear for Sept. 2004 EE. What do you think about the exam? I scored 70 on it and the highest I think was 84. I am planning to appear again this year in SEpt. What are your plans this time? Are there any suggestions how to prepare. Any help will be ppreciated.

the highest in sept 2004 was 91 and may 2004 was 89. average scores being taken in universities is 81. in UWO and UFT it is even higher.i know it is not easy but try to get higher score or get into research project or something showing ur interest in dentistry. approach the universities and go for research assistant. that is big plus, also taking UWO course also helps as most schools ask you to do tooth prep as class 2. plusthere are marks for personality too when you go and give interview.
hope it helps.

hi everybody,

I gave my EE exam on may 14th & now waiting for my result. The exam was quite easy this time. Most of the questions were from the oral path.So everyone who is preparing for EE should thoroughly do oral path.I am in calgary
& planing to give my exam again in sept 2005.Anybody who is interested in making study groups, pls pm me.i've all the study materials. My phone no. is 4036673023.

I just got back to Canada this week and I plan on writing the EE also on Sept 24 and like SUm I'm a little confused and frustrated on getting hold of some study materials. Looks like Calgary has nothing to offer in this field. So if anyone could email me with any kind of information that would sincerely be appreciated
Thanx

u said there are tooth preparations as well... When you write your EE are you expected to do it that day? I'm a little confused... Isn't it just a written exam and if so where does the clinical aspect come into play?

if you could clear this that would be great
thanx

Hi Everyone,

I am new to the site and am planning to take the EE next year. I was just wondering what materials I need to revise from to get an 80+ score. People are saying the dental decks but is that part 1 or 2? Also, if anyone has any other tips please post it on this website.

Thanks and good luck

🙂

ghost as per ur question for EE it is written exam and then when ur scores come then u apply, when u apply for universities depending on ur scores u get called for interview and then there they ask u to do tooth preps as MOD distal shoe and crowns etc and then ur interview and other things come into place for ur final selection.hope this helps
bye
