I know advice has been given about eliminating schools from massive AMCAS lists in order to avoid huge secondary and interview costs: "if you can't see yourself going there/living there, then don't continue the application". But I am letting the adcoms tell me where I want to live. If I got into only one school, even the most remote one on my list, it would become my new home. Any OTHER advice about how to eliminate schools? Anyone else in the same boat: will go anywhere, not guaranteed anywhere, but not able to interview everywhere?

You might want to look at match lists. Even if you don't know what you want to specialize in yet, I'm sure that you have an idea if you want to do surgery vs primary care vs peds. Check to see each schools' main focus. You don't want to be a future orthopod who is at a university that focuses on rural medicine.

Also, look at the research mandates and facilities. Duke, for instance, requires that all students write a thesis. Don't want to do a thesis? Don't go to Duke.

Thanks for the reply deuist...problem still stands, however: I've whored myself out. I would LOVE to write a thesis if it meant Duke lets me in. I'd honestly (start off) in primary care if it was the only school i got into...I guess, then, I am going to have to try and interview everywher I get an invitation.
