Hey, I was wondering if it would be impolite to remind evaluators of the due date or check in on them? Maybe you guys know if VMCAS is sending them reminders of the due date and such like they send to us. I am getting a little anxious with 2 evaluators without posted LORs 6 days before deadline....:scared:

Yep, I would also suggest politely reminding your evaluators as I don't think VMCAS sends reminders.

Last year, 2 of my evaluators submitted the day before the deadline. I knew they would come through but it was really stressful!

I don't think VMCAS sends reminders, but even if they do I wouldn't rely on something like that. I reminded my teacher three times about the letter to make sure he did it.

Just e-mail and politely do a "Thank you so much for being willing to write me a letter of recommendation. I truly appreciate it. By the way, October 2nd is the deadline so get your ***** in gear and finish my damn letter!!!"

VMCAS does send reminders...one of the vets told me that they sent her a reminder because she had not logged into it...that was about 6 weeks or more ago. I would not rely on VMCAS to send a reminder...just send the a friendly reminder e-mail or give them a friendly reminder phone call. Best of luck to you. :luck:

they definitely send reminders, and quite frequently from what I've heard from my evaluators. But another reminder wouldn't hurt seeing as there is such little time left. I was pretty much in close contact with most of my evaluators throughout the whole process so I gave them reminders weekly . I've got to find something for them (a card, coffee mugs, flowers for the ladies, ??) because they were all so johnny-on-the-spot with getting them submitted on time, so I'm not flipping out last minute.

i can vouch for the vmcas reminders as well. one of my LORs emailed me after submitting the evaluation and mentioned that she had received a reminder from vmcas.

I emailed my last holdout a couple of weeks ago. I've got 4 already but really wanted one from this vet I'd worked with. He says he's still going to do it and it's on his list of things to do, but it's still not done 😱 I'd also called him about 6 weeks ago to make sure he got the email (since he has AOL). So, my advice is to email a friendly reminder, but cover your bases (I did) and make sure you have three submitted even if your holdout never submits, then cross your fingers :xf: that they do!

One of the vets I asked to write me a letter didn't submit it until two hours before it was due. It was nerve wracking. I stopped by the clinic two or three times that week to "remind" her, and even convinced the techs to nag her too. I had resigned myself to not applying after all.

I'd call or go by in person to remind your evaluator if it's possible. Sometimes people don't respond to emails and then you don't know if they got it. It's really important, so you SHOULD remind him/her. As someone who had an evaluator flake out on them (not for vet school eLORs, but for something else), I think it's essential to make sure they're going to come through for you. They made a commitment to you.

I just dropped an e-mail to one of my evaluators the other day. I KNOW he will get it finished (he has six or seven others to do in addition to mine), but I wouldn't have felt comfortable not covering my bases with a reminder. I don't think it's impolite to check on an evaluator's progress - this is a very important deadline to you, and if it helps get that letter entered and finished, why not?
