So, as we've mentioned before we're a little bit of a community and it seems that with ERAS applications and the start of a new school year we've gained a few new members. I was thinking that we could take this opportunity to introduce ourselves - newbies and oldies.

As for me:
25 y/o female MS2 presents with cc "Robbins bores me and makes me want to tear my hair out" denies suicidal ideation or plan.

Treatment plan: supportive care including coffee, food, and laundry services. CC should self-resolve, but potential for secondary infection involving "USMLE anxiety" beginning in about 9 months.

Oh...and likes puppies and long walks on the beach.

27 years old, 2nd year student, love em

35 yo
Attending now for 6 years
Residency Grad 1999
EM US Fellowship Grad 2000

Avid Drummer!

27 y/o male c/o being a MSIV, nervous about getting interviews. He as a hx of previous prehospital work and mediocre boards scores. + surfing, snowboarding and running and denies -enjoying waiting for step II scores.

MS4, former SDN junkie who thanks to the excess of time on a slack 4th-yr elective is relapsing into her former SDN posting habits.

Hey, great idea.

28yo
Transitioning back into MS3 after defending my Ph.D. next week. :scared:
I was born to do Academic EM.
Love to cook, do anything out on open ocean, and write (thus the many SDN posts 😳 )

24 yom MS2 and 2LT USAR (I sold my soul for med school).

Current interests in EM and gas, possibly CCM for either, definite FAWM whichever I go. Some years in EMS and SAR in VA.

24 Male, MS2 at the University of Miami. Heavily leaning towards EM with a slight interest in Surgery/Trauma Surgery.

25 yo MSIV s/p submitting application to 90+ EM programs. C/O headache, Nausea, sweating, and SOB. Denies fever, chest pain, or vomiting. Anxiously awaiting replies from PDs.

Glad to be aboard. Good luck to all.

26 yo ctu field agent. ok joking, intern preliminary (and I mean preliminary) internal medicine, then EM. enjoy long walks on the beach and 'scary' movies.

emergency medicine pa and former paramedic once again contemplating medical school (DO) as I get bored easily and need a new challenge.....

newbie alert --4th yr here, age 26. Med school taught me that I freaking hate rounding and pontificating for hours on end about which beta blocker to start. I also hate standing in the dungeon of the OR and driving the stoopid laparascopic camera while the attendings and residents yell at me and make me their lap chole biatch. I have self diagnosed ADD and love chaos. I also like my free time so I can get manicures and drink non-fat skim lattes while I shop. Um, I also like ER because I have a special fondness for smelly homeless people.
seriously, I love er and can't wait to go into it.
🙂

Respiratory therapist/echocardiographer/Intermediate EMT; a lowly premed (medical technology major) planning on an EM residency followed by a CCM fellowship.

35 yo M former FF/EMT-P, with an MPH, starting PGY3 at Mayo. Looking for Tox fellowship next year but Mrs. Foughtfyr wants me to get a job. More than happy to help anyone who needs it during the process, feel free to PM.

SO HAPPY WITH MY CHOSEN PROFESSION
did anyone else see that post about a position opening up at Loma Linda...who quits this awesome job??!!! (rhetorical question for all of you who are about to point out why someone would leave residency)

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH. This is fun. (and SoCute and TRP, I am so with the coffee/manicures/shopping thing)

Lets see....

To southern to awnser the age thing... previous film-maker/producer/'art-eest' turned doctor.

Squeeky clean newbie attending, insane and in a two year research/education fellowship and starting masters work in 4 days. Contemplating 1 year CCM fellowship afterwards. (see insane part)
Soon to be sitting for my RDMS (you never know what interests will trigger in residency as I was so not into u/s prior to starting residency) and boards (because you know, two major exams in a year isn't quite enough).

Lover of movies (all kinds), music (not *all* kinds but broad), the beach, scuba, swimming, water, coffee, good food (really good food), my adorable kid, and many other things.

24 Male, MS2 at the University of Miami. Heavily leaning towards EM with a slight interest in Surgery/Trauma Surgery.

You will get a definate bias in Miami towards Trauma surgery. Ryder is amazing and the attendings are awesome.

The ED is a disaster. 😱 Get out of Miami to get a good EM rotation so you can make a strong well understood decision.

I see a potential girl-bonding activity for us 🙂. Maybe some time this year after one of my exams?

35 yo M c/o excessive stress secondary to working 200 hrs/mo as EP/Asst. Director of inner city, tertiary care, non-trauma center ED in city known for excess. s/p stints as FF/EMT and technical rescue instructor. Residency grad from UC Davis in ’03. Chronically holds delusional belief that 10 Vicodins and a box lunch can cure anything.

absolutely.

give me a holler! (you can take the girl out of texas but you can't take the texas outta the girl)

Hey everyone,

Have read the forums for awhile now, but never posted. 26 yo male 4th yr med student from the midwest. Humbled by med school. Like sports, outdoors, working on cars, and regular guy stuff. Former aspirations to be a pediatrician but now applying in EM. I appreciate the insight I've gotten from reading some of your posts.

Another lurker... 26y/o male IMG from India. Heavily into research and informatics. Love going to skiing trips on the pretext of attending conferences. Waiting for interview calls...

27 y/o male MSIV with priapism secondary to over stimulation regarding upcoming match. Pretty geeked about finally finding out where I will get learn EM. Looking forward to interview season and seeing the programs and cities.

HEELLLLLOOOOO! 27 yo american female MS4 at an aussie med school c/o serious need to finish 1st draft 😱 of her personal statement. Social history of seeking the Lonely Planet lifestyle with multiple episodes of applying for WAY more student loans than necessary to fund several trips abroad yearly. Multiple mental/personality disorders including vegetarianism and unwillingness to wear leather/animal products. Denies suicidal/homicidal ideation but possible tree-hugging ideation. I'll see some of you folks on the interview trail!

Cheers!

generally just a reader. 23 y/o male ms2 at a place roja knows quite well. completely ignorant as to what i wanna do. er, trauma surg, ortho, rockstar, hitman... basically the usuals. will be couples matching with wife going im or peds (we think). lover of water, dogs, and kent keeton (only roja will get that).

29 year old recent pedi residency grad who will be working in the urgent care section of the tertiary children's hospital EC while applying for a pedi ER fellowship. (Okay, run on sentance, sorry!)

9 programs applied, 2 interviews so far. Match in late Dec.

Yikes!

31yo male. Probably the earliest member on SDN and one of the first moderators(family medicine). Now doing it right as a PGY-2 in EM at Texas Tech. Led BKN to SDN.

26 y/o ms4 cc: mild case of sadness for leaving the great state of cali after 2 awesome months of sun and fun. just applied to 34 programs all over the country and awaiting board scores. love the beach, reading, cooking and can't wait to finally be called Doctor!

29, Male, EM2/PGY3 at UMiss. From Oklahoma. Like sports, the outdoors, my job. Always intend to post seriously on SDN but sarcastic sense of humor wont let me.

29 yr old male with sunburn and cactus thorns in buttocks from harsh desert conditions as a PGY-3🙂 .

Newly minted attending from LSU Baton Rouge.

Working in OKC with Morningstar Emergency Physicians.

Anyone interested in great, high paying jobs with a rapidly growing independent democratic group in Oklahoma? If so, send a pm.

Kungfufishing, clear some space in your pm inbox.

23 y/o male pre-med from Hawaii. Sergeant in the reserves for 4 years. I'm a medic and will be applying in ~2-3 years. Frequent late night poster in the path's lead thread due to the time difference.

30 y/o MS IV male with cc of low back pain. Just give me a shot of stadol and phenergan please, I am trying to finish my personal statement.

26 y/o F who has been lurking for a while now. The threads here are just so much funner in this forum than the sophmoric pre-med forum. s/p EMT-P/FF for the past 6 years. Lowly pre-med planning on EM with a fellowship/MPH in International Health. Enjoys the beach (now 1000 miles away), camping, hiking, rafting, kayaking, reading, and BSU Bronco football. I also have a new-found love of girly shoes...

24-year-old male, MS2 at the gun and knife club, and 2Lt in the USAF. c/c of SOCMMOB'ing when two random guys convinced me to go into EM. Denies suicidal tendencies, but does admit homicidal thoughts directed at IM sub-specialists, new Air Force rules that push everyone into flight medicine, and anyone who claims, "PBL is the way to go!"

Arright, I can't resist listing myself as a reader... 30 y/o female neuroscience PhD candidate (due to finish this summer), deciding between vet school and postdoc. Why do I read the EM forum obsessively? More interesting and entertaining conversations than anywhere else, for one. But also I fit the personality profile, like (veterinary) emergency med, and have been in the (human) ER more times than I like to admit with exactly the kind of stupid "non-emergencies" that you all complain about...

Hey, and could I get someone to write me a work excuse while I'm here...?
