(Couldn't find this situation so i'm posting it)
I found a DO who specializes in HIV treatment and prevention and I really want to shadow him as I'm very interested in that topic, but I cannot find a personal email for this man 🙁
All I can find is the email and phone for the practice the doctor is working at. It seems rude to email the practice looking for him (addressing the email to him and put in my resume and all that) doesn't it? Do you think it would be acceptable to email the practice explaining that I want to shadow and asking for contact information for that doctor...?

Not rude at all. What is the worst that could happen? They will just ignore your email. Seems like a fair trade for what could be an awesome experience.

Could you just drive to the practice with a CV & resume and talk to someone there?

I had the exact same situation. I wanted to shadow a physician who worked heavily with HIV patients and LGBT patients. They were over an hour away, however, so I sent them a letter with a CV & resume. In my CV, I talked about how I was interested in it and would love to shadow them, etc. They called me back the next week and left a voicemail, so it worked for me!

When I facebook messaged a doctor about shadowing, he told me I needed to email his office manager to set things up anyways. Just email the practice! If you don't get a response, maybe call and ask about it.

In my experiences with shadowing, I've always had to go through a practice manager if I didn't personally know the physician. You're doing the right thing

You can email, but best bet would be just to call the practice and ask to talk with the office manager about shadowing the doc. Worked for me and saved me a lot of time after I visited a few DOs in person to try and shadow with no luck.
