Sooo, I'm in a bit of a pickle regarding my AMCAS course list and the transcripts I submitted, and I need some help regarding what I need to do.

Long story short: I applied this current cycle and have been lucky enough to be accepted to one school, and will be interviewing with another one in a couple of weeks. About 2 years ago, I registered to take an online course within an online MPH program because I was interested in taking the course's subject matter (I did not plan on pursuing an MPH). However, I ended up withdrawing from the course after a few weeks, and did not take any additional courses in that program.

Here's where the "I'm a dumba**" part comes in: Believe it or not, I completely forgot that I ever enrolled in that class until this week. Seriously. So my AMCAS application only has my undergrad and post-bacc courses listed there, and does not include this MPH course and the "W" that is listed on this program's transcript (I requested an unofficial transcript today to confirm that the course and that grade are listed there). I have also already sent in my official transcripts to the school that has accepted me, so I now need to update them with this other transcript, as well.

I totally understand that I can have my acceptance rescinded because of this, so I don't know how to go about addressing this issue with the Dean of the school I'm accepted at, and if/how I should update the school I will be interviewing with soon (or if I should wait for an admissions decision afterwards)?

There is a similar thread about this (Transcript question) from a while ago, so I am wondering if I should follow Gonnif's advice posted in that one? Also, how bad does this look? Does it look like I was attempting to hide a "W" from my application? Basically, how screwed am I?

Any advice would be helpful! :help:

Just update the schools about this oversight, and take two of these:

I would say just be honest and apologetic with the school you have been accepted to. Do the same if accepted at any other schools. I would not mess with an update/possible confusion if you are interviewing very soon.

Sounds good, I appreciate it!

Send the school that accepted you an email apologizing for the oversight and explaining that since you withdrew from the course and therefore didn't complete it and get a grade, you completely forgot about it until now. Apologize for any inconvenience this oversight causes them and offer to answer any questions they might have.

Send a similar email to the school where you're interviewing (though perhaps you might remember shortly after the interview?) 😉

Sorry to bump a thread that has basically been resolved, but I'm really curious: how/why didn't AMCAS catch the missing transcript? I thought they also used the National Student Clearinghouse database during verification? Or do they actually only just check for discrepancies between the courses/dates submitted on the app and the transcripts that are sent in, and, instead, it's only the schools that use the database?

I actually wondered the same thing

Clearinghouse claims to have records of 97% of all post-secondary students. Given the enrollment as a non-degree seeking student and given the withdrawal from the course, and perhaps, even, if the applicant paid cash rather than borrowing, the record might not have been scooped up. It might even be a little thing like dropping out before the date when record transfers take place for all "enrolled students" at that institution.

That makes sense. At first I figured they either just must not use it or that they only do “spot checks” or something like that
