Anybody have any first hand experience on what to expect here? Searched the forum and didn't see much. Just got "voluntold" IA orders to an embedded medical training team at a regional hospital in Afghanistan for the next 14 months. 😱😕

Don't get too worried. The biggest issue you will need to deal with is logistics. Where do they get resupply? You won't change how they practice medicine (nor should you really, Afghan good will be good enough for them) but they have big problems getting stuff.

Yeah, logistics suck, and even when you can make it work half the stuff gets stolen anyway. Plus don't forget USC Title 10; you can't just give away our stuff (legally).

If he's talking about what I think he's talking about, he's likely going to be a junior physician with a larger traveling Army team, where he serves mainly in a support/clinical role. A lot of the administrative pain the rest of us have dealt with over there may not be an issue for him.

God, let's hope so. Would rather stick a large wooden pencil in my eye vice some of the admin headaches.
