With college rapidly approach I need to make my decision. My 'hobby' is EMS. I've been involved since I was 15, riding on the ambulance since I was 16, and now at 17 I passed my EMT class. I want to major in Emergency Management and do pre med.

Every time I read on here talking about majors I keep reading "Do what interests you." However, is Emergency Managment an acceptable one? It's not in any of the five major disciplines.

Any thoughts?

make sure you take all of the required classes for medical school admission and you'll be fine!

Make sure you have an answer if an adcom asks

"If you enjoyed EMS so much, why do you want to become a doctor instead of an EMT?"

An ENT is a doctor. In a tough specialty too. But I think you meant "EMT".

"EMS is a hobby, the adrenaline of going to a a call is awesome. I'm always at the doctors due to personal medical issues and I know that's where my true interest lies. I'll kick my own butt every time I went to the hospital/ doctors if I didn't become one. I want to help people like me, I want to follow through on the patient care process." That a good one?😛

no, that is not good.

1.) EMS is not a hobby, it is a job
2.) what do your personal medical issues have to do with anything in this context?
3.) the only good part is the last half of the last sentence
