Does anyone know if we can just copy and paste our AMCAS research description for the Emory secondary?

I started fresh b/c my AMCAS essay was not comprehensive of all my projects, but the sources of all my writing were the same so they probably sound really similar.

You should call them to make sure.

i was confused about this too and contacted them. this is what they said:

[FONT=Verdana, Helvetica, Arial]It is quite similar. You may utilize what you wrote for the AMCAS essay and use this as an opportunity to expound or clarify. Our reviewers will look more closely at the secondary than the AMCAS. I hope this helps..

Do we *really* have to send letters from every single one of our research PIs? I've done a lot of research, some of it not relevant to my current interests, so I was planning for forwarding letters from only recent/relevant PIs. Has anyone asked Emory about this?

I'm pretty sure it's a non-issue if you have say 2 or 3 letters from recents PIs. I highly doubt they will look at your record and penalize you for not sending a letter from a mentor of a project done 3/4 years ago. But then again, everything is possible with those ad committees.

I spent alot of time writing my AMCAS research essay, and I don't really think there is anything I want to change. Meh. I think I am submitting it verbatim.

It looks like you also applied to Harvard. Given that they have the same policy (requiring letters from each PI you've worked with), how did you deal with them? 😛

My guess is if you don't have a letter from a research experience, they'll treat it as a fairly minor experience for you (since you weren't there long enough/didn't make enough of an impact to get a letter), but I doubt they'd toss you just because you didn't have a letter from an old project.

Haha, good point. I think in that case I assumed exactly what you just mentioned. That's what I was also going to do in this case, too. I have been doing research full time for about 1.5 years now, and I have two letters from research mentors. I have just listed those whenever I was asked on a secondary to put the names of the MD/PhD specific letter writers.
