HI,
I have been accepted to both Emory (Global Health), UGA (Health Promotion), and Georgia State University ( Health Promotion & Behavior). UGA is out of the picture since they are not accreditted. The biggest reason I am struggling to make a decision is $$$. Emory is super expensive and they did not offer me any scholarships, only loans. Georgia State offered me the Georgia Foundation Scholarship ($5000) which would help me cover about 50% of tuition. I know that emory is better in terms of "ranking" and that the opportunities and connections are immense. But is it worth going in the hole $50,000? Georgia state has emailed me and made personal calls inviting me to attend their program. I really like the Global Health department, professors, etc. at Emory. I know that I should not solely base my decision on $$ but it is a great factor to consider.

I want to apply to medical school after I get my MPH so which school would better prepare/open doors. I know that sometimes it is not the institution, but what you make of it and your experiences.

any feedback/sugesstion would be appreciated. I told both schools I would let them know by next wed.

slolo it depends on your specific situation. We exchanged very specific information related to GSU and Rollins. The best thing you can do with the programs you are considering is to compare what is most important to you. If it is the practicum then talk to each school about practicum sites. If it is a specific track, then find out which one is better and if it is the expensive school then find out if it is that much better ($50K or whatever the discrepancy). Decide how much things like reputation, student/teacher ratio, post graduate employment , professors backgrounds, etc. matter to you and then research and compare. Without knowing your specific dilemma or programs it's hard for me to say more.

Hello! I am faced with the same dilemma and very interested in what you had to say. I am really concerned about finances and terrified of being in debt, however Emory's program is incredible and I haven't heard a ton about GSU as of late. Is there any feedback you could provide publicly? I would really appreciate it. I should also say I am planning on pursuing another degree in psych/counseling following my mph and that has also gone into my decision to take a cheaper route.
Thanks!
