emory?

I thought that ALL decisions were out at the end of March. According to when I interviewed, if it was an acceptance, something should have been sent from Emory on March 7th. I heard nothing. Rejection letters should have been sent out March 21st- 25th. I heard nothing. Yesterday I called the Admissions office there and left a message saying so. I have still heard nothing. I know they can't tell me results over the phone but I'd atleast like to know if something has been sent through the mail.

I was informed by Ms. Black that there was one final mtg and that the decisions should be out at the end of the month. Hope this helps!

Received alternate list e-mail today.

i was also informed of my alternate status today.

Alternate list as well...does anyone know the stats for acceptance off of the waitlist?

I'm also on the alternate list. Does anybody know how many people are waitlisted and how many typically get acceptances? Thanks

from what I can tell it doesn't seem like anyone gets rejected post-interview there.

I am on the alternate list too, as is my boyfriend. How many alternate spots did they give away?!

I dont want to give any false information (and obviously it varies year by year) but i've heard that about 30% of the entering class comes from the alternate list, so thats a decent amount of students i would think.
Now this is what I've heard (I'm an emory undergrad). I do remember that at interview, they stressed that being on the alternate list still means you have a solid chance of getting accepted.

Oh yea, I too was put on the alternate list 🙄 .

me too, me too!

I am an alternate too!!! grrr.

It looks like everyone is an alternate, but how can 30% then be accepted??? Does anyone know the rates for other schools? This just seems awfully high.

Im sick of waiting. Emory is my only possibility (still waiting to hear from Drexel, but looks like its so late in the game its either waitlist or reject) and I just cannot stand this limbo any longer. The thought of possibly having 2 weeks (even 2 months is cutting it close) to pick up my whole life in Boston and move to Atlanta is just frightening. I can't help it, I'm a planner. grrr.

And to make matters worse, I had to mentally prepare to be rejected, thinking NP or PA or taking more classes, that now I am doubting everything.... help!! Anyone else feel this overwhelmed? :scared:

one more thing... just looking over the e-mail again...

"we hope to have the opportunity to accept several alternates..."

and what does several mean?

"Being of a number more than two or three but not many"

30% sounds like many to me.

any thoughts?

.

Sorry to bring you the bad news, 30% is not true. In my class I think it is probably anywhere from 5-10%. It is true that it varies from year to year, so who knows what this year will be.

so, do med schools (in general) admit the exact number that their class size should be (in this case, emory around 113ish) or do thay admit- like undergrad colleges do- as many as twice their incoming class expecting people will not accept the offer of admission....?

this is probably something i should have known already...

i interviewed at med coll of georgia and they said about 1/2 of the waitlist gets accepted..... just for comparison
