Is the toxic person normally a narcissist too?

Do they target one person and go to the next? That’s a lousy game for the targets of their aggression. Wish there was a way to gauge culture in places you are thinking about working. If you don’t know the area it can be hard to figure out which places have bad culture and which places are worth your time

so for all the ppl in this thread that says everyone in the office knows who the toxic person was and who they tried to get rid of... how come the rest of you guys didn't stand up for the victim? why are you guys allowing such toxic person "ruling" the office?

Clarkbar, didn't we have this exact same thread last year? Is this the same workplace that you are talking about, or have you went to a different workplace and found the problem followed you? I know there are a lot of hostile workplaces, but when you are running into the exact same problem with every job you go to, then you have to ask if maybe the problem is your error rate?

I think this is exactly right.

co-worker in a hospital has been reporting all errors, no matter how minor, e.g. did not mention srcr trending up with no clinical impact, for a new employee.

other employees seem blaise about the issue. what is the etiquette and protocol to deal with this matter, socially in private and escalate to management if necessary or advised.

I've approached the employee, asking for the person to come to me with any issues and if the person was confused by a note or dose created by me. The person has not complied and seems cold.

Thank you

They dont like you or something about you. Period. Otherwise they would try to help you out and teach you, not report you. You report people who you want to see scolded and fouled up. Thats corporate america anyway, but i hear hospital politics are NASTY, and i would imagine this is a prime example. Not that your 100% innocent BUT you dont need to be reported, which will eventually lead to write ups i imagine? and eventually termination? is this something you do to someone you want to help and have around you? or get rid of? Just my logic....

I believe the problem is autistic/asperger people with no lives outside the pharmacy. They don't see or care about their actions affecting others and will report minor problems instead of fixing it and making a note of it, then afterward act (and perceive) nothing is wrong.

The management is definitely into this environment, thinking its a learning experience...

Well you are right, those disorders do cause people to not have the same level of understanding for people/empathy/emotions as others. It's like they are on autopilot. However, autopilot will eventually become self destruct! i promise....every time...

Does no one run the report to see how many orders each person is verifying throughout their shift? Doing that for 1-2 weeks would show a clear trend of who is productive and not.

Also, what kind of mistakes are we talking about here? Petty things, or harming patient type mistakes? Need examples.

Is there in fact a difference between minor and major errors in regards to screwing over pharmacists? I’ve had one manager complain about a wring order on the profile before being dc 14 minutes later. Never left the pharmacy. It seems in nursing or medicine a minor error is any mistake that reaches the patients. A major one is if there was a measureable affect on the patient.
In pharmacy if it aint right it’s wrong is what I hear, meaning even prethought crime is prosecuted

if you report me for something stupid like wrong dr address, wrong number of refills.....etc. you are officially a retail-**** pharmacist. you have gone FULL-****...

At the pace which corporate demands now a days, we are lucky we have not hurt anyone.......so dont sweat small stuff, only report what must be reported.....everything is so chaotic, no one is paying attention to anything anyway. I bet i could put skittles in one of my patients bottles accidentally, and get away with it.....

I havent' worked retail since I was an intern. How do you guys handle the metrics and prevent errors, customer complaints? I have never met a retail pharmacist who was straight on more than a couple of strategies, like never putting anyone as a waiter, tell everyone long wait times and observe if there is a customer feedback form on the receipt, filling non-controls if the customer complains about being shorted, etc.

ya cant do it all now a days.....you do what you can, focus on top company initiatives first....grind it out day by day until it all collapses...

How do you protect the pharmacy from errors, complaints, vacc quotas, etc

For errors, practice playing tetris, the longer you can go, the easier retail pharmacy will seem.
For complaints, just do your best and don't worry about them. Most people aren't going to bother officially complaining, they will just complain to all the friends. The people who do bother to official complain, are the kind of people who would complain no matter what you did, so since you can't please them, I wouldn't waste time worrying about them.

Vacc quotas....not sure, maybe have a tech dress up as a syringe and stand outside with a placard yelling "flu shots, get your flu shots here!"

Seeing OP is still active, how did it go? Your situation got any better?
