English is included in BCP? (see link)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
uh...BUMP. Is this true Is science GPA synonymous with the BCP GPA that AADSAS looks at?

They just messed up

I specifically asked them about it, I think it's a mistake.

Why would Biology/Chemistry/Physics GPA contain English?

If anyone else can call up and confirm, it would be great.

If you look on the 2nd page, english is listed under non-science. And ESL is included in BCP? That is hilarious.

Dang...an extra 15 credits of A would be nice in the BCP GPA

that's true; it's listed again... didn't make sense to me. sounds like it is a mistake 🙁

i knew it sounded too good to be true. I found the link while entering all coursework under "instructions for this section," then scroll down to "course subject" and click on "examples" link

Maybe they just started this new for 2011!!! 😀

Ugh if this comes true I am a dead man. B-, A-, A- in three English 🙁

A-, A-, A for me 😀

if this happens there will be a linear increase in sGPA for almost everyone anyways, i think.

btw sfoksn, stop complaining about ur gpa 😛

hmm, Let me see the summer session listings. I think I'll be enrolling poetry.

Boost science gpa and maybe get some girls.

Unlike last year, they now have a category "ENGLISH" so I am guessing it will be included in the BCP grade from this year? I HOPE SO!! It would have been great if math was included also..

we need some concrete evidence that they didn't mess up....it seems too good to be true

*goes back to change his literature class from non-science to BCP*

This has got to be a mistake. I am not getting my hopes up at all.

ya, personally i agree. just was passing it along because i thought it was crazy. ive tried to call but haven't gotten through. Anyone else try?

This is a big change! Is this true or no?!

no its not counted in BCP... but the change/update in AADSAS website states that now they will calculate ENGLISH GPA separately just how they calc. you bio gpa chem cpa and physics gpa separately for dental schools. And they will also calc. BCP which combines Bio, chem, phy. then total science, then all other gpa etc... d-schools will get many gpa's

Hey peanuts, I could not find any information regarding English GPA being calculated separately on AADSAS..

Would you mind posting a link or telling us how to get to the information?

hey sfoksn,

I read it today morning but could not find the link again. You can contact them on Monday and let us know.

can someone check up on this? thanks!

I asked them about AADSAS about it and they said yes it would be included in BCP. However, the AADSAS representative didn't seem so confident in his answers so he may be mistaken.

To me, it seems like the AADSAS made a mistake because BCP usually means Biology, Chemistry, Physics and it makes no sense to have English but not math included.

I think dental schools just wanted AADSAS to categorize "English" so they can easily determine if an applicant has fufilled the one year English requirement of many schools.

LOL.
English is my worst subject - luckily I haven't (and won't) have to take any of it in college (thanks, high school dual enrollment!)

The representative is wrong.. I just called and they said that it is definitely non-science and that they will check the pdf to change it.

BCP stands for Biology, Chemistry, Physics.

Why do people not get this? It is on AADSAS:

"BCP GPA: All undergraduate courses identified on your transcript as Biology, Chemistry and Physics are used in computing this GPA.
•
Science GPA: All undergraduate courses identified on your transcript as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Math and Other Science is used in computing this GPA.
•
Non-science GPA: All undergraduate courses not used in calculating the Science GPA are used to compute this GPA.
•
Undergraduate GPA: All courses for which undergraduate credit is received are used in computing this GPA.
•
Graduate GPA: All courses for which graduate credit is received are used in computing this GPA.
•
Overall GPA: All courses-both undergraduate and graduate- are used to compute this GPA. (For most dental school applicants who have not completed graduate courses, the overall GPA is the same as the Undergraduate GPA).
•
College/University GPA's: GPA's are reported for each college/university you have attended."

The following categories are all combined to calculate the applicant’s Non-Science GPA:

People are confused because English is in a separate group under the BCP GPA category.

has the link changed in content? From what i read there is no indication of english being under BCP

Ah, finally they fixed it.

Yes, the link had English under BCP like few hours ago.

ya, before the link had english under bcp before everyone jumps on me and thinks im ******ed. but its been confirmed that it was a mistake and has been changed. BCP is what we thought it was

from an email from aadsas:

"English will NOT be included in your BCP GPA. Your BCP GPA will include
only Biology, Chemistry, and Physics courses. I apologize for any
confusion in the course subject listing, which is currently being
updated"

and with that i consider this thread closed 🙂
