I got my AP scores yesterday and they turned out to be the exact opposite of what I thought I would get, but oh well. I'll take what I can get. I got a 4 on Rhetoric and a 3 on Lit. UT has this rule where you can just claim credit and not claim the grade. I'm thinking that I'll be wanting to do that for the literature.

But, will that look good on your record? I don't know what I should do because I know it's pretty important since you need to be good in your English skills to communicate etc so I'm not quite sure in which direction I should go. What do you guys think?

Some schools, like VCU, may still want you to fulfill the prepharm requirement even if you did well on with AP. It's not like they don't recognize AP or IB but I guess they want students to be taking the same number of credits in undergrad as everyone is expected to. It might differ with other pharm schools you are planning to apply to, but what I know about VCU is that they would want that lit. class to be replaced with another undergrad class, most likely from the english department.
However, if you don't feel strong with your English skills, then maybe you should just take lit. again. Like you said, communication is an important skill to excell at.
Hope I was some help to you 🙂

so which one is easier? lit or rhetoric? 🙂 I have to take both so it doesn't really matter, but I want to know 🙁 . I should have taken the AP english test in highschool, took the AP class, but didn't take the test, bummer.

I have a similar question...I got a 5 on AP calculus AB and that means at ucla i'll be starting with calculus BC...will pharmacy schools accept that? I'm pretty sure they do because I checked SC website and it seems like that would but can anyone verify?

Goheel, the Rhetoric exam (which you take after taking AP English 3) is the easier of the exams. But for me, I waited till the end of my senior year to take it and I thought it was a lot harder then the literature exam. Oddly enough, I did worst in literature then I did on the rhetoric exam. Sucks...oh well.

Thanks guys for the advice! I'm just going to claim credit because I have to take three writing components anyway in my electives, so those will offer me my outlet of creative and thoughtful expression. I loved AP English but hated the fact that I had to write and complete papers in three days.
