Hi i am really interested in podiatry medicine. I don't have a great gpa. i am junior with a overall gpa of 3.8 and a gpa of 3.3 in science as well. I haven't taken the MCAT what can i do to increase my chances of getting into a podiatry school? I know i need to do good in the MCATor the DAT or GRE, but what other things would really help me get in? I am really hoping to get into the DMU or the Oakland school but i would go to any that accepts me. I am thinking about going to the NYCPM's summer mat. program next summer to get some hands on experience and to see what its like to be a podiatrist. PLEASE HELP ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATE.

thanks in advance

shadow a podiatrist. 👍

I would call the admissions office of the schools that you are interested in attending and explain your situation and ask them for advice to improve your application.

You need to try your best to crush the MCAT, and getting in to shadow pods helps also. That will speak to your ability and interest better than ECs. Also, it's pretty obvious that, as in any grad program, the earlier in the app cycle you apply, the better your chances. It's pretty easy for an interviewer to ascertain which applicants made an early informed decision and which ones just got waitlisted for MD school and applied to pod at the last minute with little interest or knowledge of podiatry...
