Hi
I heard from another student recently that in the next few years they were going to require prospective OT students do entry level doctorate programs much like entry level PT programs do now. Has anyone heard about this? Does anyone think its good or bad? Just curious...

Nope. PT got changed to a doctorate and in 2020 all PT's with a Masters have to get their doctorate or they can't work. OT was a bachelors and when it became a Masters, the OT's with bachelors got grandfathered in so they don't need to get a Master. I doubt OT will become a doctorate and if it ever did, it would be way later down the line.

I don't know I'm in my MOT now and the professor doesn't think it's going to happen she actual announced it once in class that she doesn't think so.. esp not anytime soon. She said just because PT does something doesn't mean OT follows..and AOTA is not too interested in moving to doctoral because it caused a big issue with PT they got in a lot of trouble for it. Forgot what she said happened. But she did mention though that PT is trying to include Function in there practice which is going to hurt OT because function is what OT is all about and if you take away function and give it to PT where does it put OT on the map where not going anywhere but she was saying PT is hurting OT.. she said PT always has something going on and that she has nothing against PT and love all of them, but wish they would just stop.
