Just as an aside, as I read this review a few days ago (having been posted elsewhere), I saw the word "ept", as, I would guess, the root of the word "inept". Fair enough. As such, I tried to play it on "Words With Friends" (but, of COURSE, not look it up to see if it was indeed a word), and it didn't work! What the hey! For all of the words that DO work on WWF (including quite a number that would make quite a number of the SDN mod "staff" that are blue-nosed, round-headed, Puritanical snobs get "the vapors", which they do at even a shadow of a "mild oath", much less anything actually there), it was ironic that this one didn't.

Let me check dictionary.com. Stand by...

Dictionary.com
calls it a "back formation", so it might not be a word, even though it sounds quite correct.

Whatever. Such as it is for my aside.

Huh...well, my post was spun off into its own thread!

Well, there you go! No matter where you go, there you are!

Then again, I wonder if it was done so as to put it further down the list, due to my scathing (to the virgin ears of the mod "staff") assessment of their moral character. I still stand by it, though.

Perhaps the lot of them should become acquainted with the song "Family Reunion" by Blink 182. I think their eyes might bleed!

See? I don't know who did it, but I have some stronger suspicions. However, what it IS is more emblematic of a corps of the mod "staff" doing things in an unaccountable manner, hoping or figuring that there won't be any waves. There are nearly anonymous people making decisions, and these people are unelected and not representative of the users of the site. Now, the mod "staff" will say, "But we're volunteers, and do this on our own time!" That is a hollow and pedantic statement - could I tattoo people, just because I did it for free? And, if it is so volunteer, why are the ranks so narrow? Of the many people whom I've known (such as it was) on SDN that were mods, to my knowledge, the vast majority were "tapped" to become mods, just like some sophomoric, *****ic, idiotic, stupid, vapid fraternity/sorority trick. If someone asks to become a mod, good luck with that. And, likes beget likes - one person, with their screwball perspective, finds another, who finds another, and then you get an environment of Shi'ite minority ruling Sunni majority, or Boer ruling African, or any other of a stark minority with the power over a much grander hoi polloi.

As you might guess, I would not apply to them the label of "ept".

I had one pukeball mod whose name I'd never heard edit one of my posts, instead of the nominal asking me to do it; when I questioned that, this mod didn't even pick up on how this violates the very core of the rules set down on the page of the TOS and Online Service Agreement:

13. Once you’ve posted on the site, it’s there forever. We do not delete posts except in extreme cases. Even if we can remove a post that you regret posting, they are often permanently cataloged in sites like Google or the Internet Archive.

Except where it suits the mod "staff". The example is as follows: say DocB used to have as his username "BertQ, with, presumably, "Bert" being his actual, given name. He later changes it to "DocB". Then, in a post, I refer to him as "Bert", and he gets pissed, and complains to his mod buddies, and one, named something like "Napoleon", behind the scenes, comes in an modifies my post, without even giving me the courtesy of a ***** ****** (and, for the easily offended, which is the majority of the mod staff, that link has foul language that is NSFW - you have been warned; do NOT click it with your volume on if you are in a sensitive area with children, coworkers, or SDN mod "staff" around). Yeah, that sounds quite like an "extreme case". But, whatever. Mods are volunteers!! (And, my ever-present response: "So what?" That has ZERO bearing. Nil. Nada. Nichts.)

I mean, even if I referred to DocB and spyderdoc as Ulysses and Sergio (which are, indeed, IRL, their real names) (actually, no - they are Vic and Hugo, respectively), they wouldn't object. Most of the others would, and would use their trivial mod "powers" to exert their little bit of pain with an unreviewable, opaque punishment, summary and final, out of the blue, with no explanation as to the rationale that was used, but, in a remarkable display of thoughtlessness and inappropriate wording, may end the PM notice with

"Thanks for understanding and best wishes."

...

Really?

Are you ******* serious? Are you for real? Or are you just messing with me?

So, it is with such motivations that I refer to the SDN mod staff as "gutless pukes". Ipso facto, those that "manned up" and said "not me!" are not "gutless pukes".

Me too, actually, followed by a heated discussion of if they really are only a dollar at the dollar store...

Wouldn't matter if they were a penny, they'll still come in for the "free" one that they are entitled to get.....

Or the equally famous "The pee test is always wrong, gimne the blood test crowd."

Yea, I'm guilty of telling patients that. And I have no idea how much they really cost there.

And then my wife went to buy one the other day at walmart and it was nearly $7. But then again she was looking for a name brand test rather than "Dr. McUrine's Home Pregnograph!"
