So, I have been working in retail for about 7 years. I went straight from Optometry school (identical slit lamps and phoropters in every room) to Walmart where the equipment was provided. After much contemplation and frustration, I am finally opening a private practice. I am hoping with my 12,000 patient records, I can snag a couple patients to follow me. My dilemma is choosing the right equipment

I have been google crazy trying to learn the pros and cons of all of the equipment I have been to 3 conferences/trade shows to try out some of the equipment. I have been on the manufacturers websites to learn as much as possible, but I still don't know what to pick. The truth is there are so many things to choose from and so little time and opportunity to demo everything.

It seems anything you buy online these days (Amazon.com to Hotels.com) has a review on a star rating system. But I haven't found any official review of optometric/ophthalmic equipment. I wouldn't buy a slitlamp that had a 1 star rating!!! I was hoping we could get a review of equipment and software started.

If there is a piece of equipment in your office that you love or something you regret buying please post and state why?

I have to buy an entire office worth of equipment before my projected opening in September and I am hoping to use your reviews for guidance.
