ERAS 2017-2018 Cardiology Fellowship Application Cycle

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm in same situation. I think you can apply and assign the 4th letter later time.
I just applied to a porgram, and later I could assign additional letters. You wont be able to uncheck previously assigned letters but you can add a new one upto a total of 4 letters
That is awesome, thank you for the feedback, I didn't want to dish out a minimum of 200 bucks and later waste it. Thanks!!!

Thanks for the feedback guys! Really appreciate it. Applied today after all my LORs finally were processed. Good luck to everyone and hopefully the interviews start rolling through soon.

i get so excited when someone has posted on this thread.
already anxious.

Is there any way to know whether the application was downloaded or not?

I don't think there is such a thing as downloaded anymore. It's all online and all applications are constantly available. Whether or not they are printed to a paper copy is something different. Not sure though.

Why would he or she not have the best chance. AMG with decent step scores, if the objective is just to match in cardiology somewhere I don't see a problem if applying broadly.

US MD grads have about a 90% match rate. I think you're safe to match somewhere.

It would also be extremely helpful if you could include the interview dates you were offered.

No need to feel dismal. Its so early, most places haven't even offered interviews yet.

I agree, no need to despair at this stage. Maybe if nothing by the end of August, but even then several programs seem to offer interviews in September so all hope isn't lost. I'm an AMG that's been out of residency a few years and know my application isn't the most competitive, but I'm hopeful.

sorry - didn't mean to be dramatic.
I have a connection to Yale (though still external), so was bummed I wasn't on their initial list.

Does anyone know if programs send out invites in batches, before they have looked at all the applications?
How does this work?
(I am trying to convince myself that these programs, all of which I have applied to and none of which I have heard from, have simply not seen my application yet, rather than that they have all put me in the "crap" pile.)

Oh yeah, I forgot to add it, I am an external candidate.

Hi everyone,
I am planning to apply for cardiology fellowship in the upcoming 2018 cycle. I am an IMG and done my MBBS from India. While filling the ERAS application does the 1 year compulsory internship done in India go into the education section or the experience section. Also the degree is awarded to us only after internship. So is it Ok to have a gap between the completion of medical school and the date of your degree awarded? Appreciate any input or feedback on this question. Thanks a lot.
P.S: Is there a new thread for Cards fellowship applicants this year?
hi. Can someone direct me to the forum for current card fellowship application season? Thank you

Buyer beware.

Has the volume to be a much better program than it is. Generally gets fellows from second-rate residencies. Struck me as somewhat malignant. Interview day unnecessarily long and too many interviews. No pre-interview dinner. Overall, poor vibes. But hey, I'm just one person.

Very subjective, I had the exact opposite feeling. Thought the PD was unimpressive, met only one fellow my entire interview day and all the program did was talk about research, didn't get the sense of particularly strong clinical training. Didn't seem all that different from most university programs, though, and had a friend who ranked it highly, different strokes I guess.

Followed these Cards threads for years, my how time flies. Here we are.
US-AMG
Respectable University IM in Midwest (mid-t?)
Scores: >220's / >240's / pass / >230's
5 full length PubMed publications, (2 first auth), also 1 solid cases series though non-PMID
6 published abstracts-2 JACC, 2 Circulation, 1 JIC, etc.
1 online pub peer-reviewed in well known journal
1 book (entire book), published
17 posters, state, national, international (Europe)
5 oral presentations, incl' national & international (Europe)
Away rotation at excellent quaternery academic institution (hope to go there)
(got rocking letters but nowadays that seems par for the course)

No interviews yet bc, IDK, it's J.u.l.y.?

I decided to jump on here rooting for us normals/ mere-mortals! I'm not AOA, no elite step scores, I just tried to do solid/consistent Steps, and I found my inner Fire- tried to go bat-sh crazy with research, hoping that would move the needle a bit... But who knows?? No use "WAMC".

Channeling my inner gut-onc to say everybody (who is mortal among us) relax.
(those that will panic-attack themselves will do so anyway I suppose, so, commence spasming).

I read somewhere once, 'Which of you by worrying can add a single hour to their life?' Assuming that applies to interviews as well...
Will keep you posted. Best luck to everyone. Especially us mortals! :highfive:
