I asked in another thread about Thiopental, but I also have a question about Etomidate. I've heard that Etomidate has a less favorable recovery profile than other intravenous anesthetics with a much higher incidence of post operative nausea and vomiting than Propofol.
Is the anesthetic itself really emotogenic? Or is it more so that it doesn't have the antiemetic properties like Propofol so emesis due to other surgical factors (volatile anesthetics, opioids, etc) is more apparent after surgery?
