Does anyone know anyone who, because of poor senior year grades, had their acceptance to a school taken back?

I am specificaly concerned with Tulane. Their acceptance letter says "satisfactory completion" but offers no indication of what they see as satisfactory. I was told of my acceptance over the phone and tried to ask the question but the only answer i got was...try and do as well as you have done..dont slack off...but nothing concrete.

I am taking all of the classes now which i hate and put off untll my senrion year. Pchem, anylitical chem, Biochem lab ect....so its not like im worried about making good grades in easy courses...they are hard in themselves, the whole "im, and i can slack" factor aside.

Any thoughts....especially about tulane, and other private schools.

the point is, pass your classes. If you fail your senior year with the attitude "hey i already got in", chances are you will carry this attitude into medical school, and it will affect your performance there.

Oh im certian i will pass. Im worried about making like a C and two B's....any sub 3.0 gpa.
Like i said...its not simply that i have a "hey im in" attitude...its that these classes (pchem especially cause i didnt take calc 3) are freakin hard. I just want to be sure that..god forbid...i make a C in pchem they arnt going to kick my butt out.

Some schools have said what your letters have said, others say they want academic performance similar to what you have demonstrated throughout undergrad.

I guess that means whatever your cumulative GPA is, dont go lower than maybe .2 or .3 or so? Just a guess.

i think it would take a lot for them to rescind your acceptance (like going from As and Bs to all Ds and Fs). I really doubt that a C or 2 would be grounds for un-accepting you. I'm sure lots of people have had similar situations, but very few people have heard of applicants getting un-accepted.
Seriously, as long as you do your best, I think you'll be fine.

A classmate of mine here at Tulane claims to have dropped the last semester of physics (a prerequisite course) after learning of their acceptance.

I don't know this for certain, since I haven't seen the person's final transcript. But that's what the person says.

I wouldn't do it, though, if I were you. Just on principle.

i would not worry about it. if you are taking difficult classes, put forth decent effort, and get a C or two, no one is going to reject you. it takes a lot to have an acceptance rescinded.

Do we not need our BS??

Yes, you do.

If the person was telling me the truth, it probably just hasn't been discovered yet. The great thing about this place is that the faculty and staff have a tendency to assume that we're all adults, and honest, and that we're being responsible about our actions. That letter would surely be enough to scare most would-be slackers into completing their classes.

Here they have a very hard time believing that anyone would have such disregard for the rules. The idea that someone could actively be deceiving them just doesn't compute--and 99.9% of the time that kind of trust is one of the things I really like about this school. So I doubt anyone's actually checked to make sure we all turned in our final transcripts and that those of us still taking prerequisites actually completed them.

All I have to say about it is, I hope the person was just bragging to try and be cool, because God help them if it's true and they're found out. With this particular person I think it would be the last straw.

I agree with previous posters. One or two C's are okay. F's are definitely not.

I really don't think anyone would rescind your acceptance for taking advanced classes and getting a lower GPA than usual. My point was that you'd have to do something indicative of a serious character flaw, and relaxing a little after getting accepted is really not one in most people's view.
